Hi,

I have falled foul of the early December pay trap. I get paid on Friday 24th and I have a grand total of £201. Looks like we'll be eating pasta and sauce for a couple of weeks!!

Is anyone else feeling the pain? When is your payday and what do you have left ( if you don't mind sharing, of course"). I am hoping that it will make me feel better about my own financial ineptitude!!

17p- pay day tomorrow 🙃

I was doing well with about £360 to last until 24th, but some bastard hacker has managed to not only buy a load of gift cards through zilch depleting my bank account in the process, but also ordered themselves a sim using my phone account and done a sim switch from my number to theirs meaning I now have no mobile phone service until I get my new sim! Bank won’t refund the voucher money as they say it’s classed as a dispute rather than fraud, so I am now utterly skint. I’ll have ask DM to borrow food/petrol money. And to think that yesterday I was feeling pleased with myself that I’d avoided overspending Decembers pay at Christmas like I normally do. At least if I had I’d have something to show for it!!

Got paid on the 31st December and that is just how I like it - no temptation to overspend on Christmas and leave yourself short for January.

Food Warehouse are doing good deals at the moment - 10 for £10 on frozen food.

Try Too Good To Go - A lot of the supermarkets do these and you can get some decent stuff…

Hello kindred spirit!! 🤣 I seem to have got myself into a situation whereby every month I'm £400 overdrawn so skint again the next month. I'm being paid £300 in expenses this month so I'm hoping that this is the month I manage to sort it out.

Lovesea658 · 13/01/2025 09:04

My salary is paid on the 25th of every month, and the wait for payday always feels so long.😂

HoraceCope · 13/01/2025 09:07

also struggling
11 more days to go
and saving for mot plus a wedding
cancelled disney, but rejoined Netflix
thought i was getting free Simply cook but it seems I am not

just have to continue to resist temptation.

HouseofHolbein · 13/01/2025 09:16

I'm another who is ok this year thanks to using You Need A Budget. Plus I get paid the last day of the month no exceptions which definitely focuses your mind over Christmas 🤣🤣

It's horrible to struggle tho... I can well remember those days.

Yep. I have until 31st - and £26. The freezer and food cupboards are full, I have bread in the freezer and DS' school meals account is topped up.
In an absolute emergency, I can use the cat's money - there's enough in their Monzo pot to cover the excess on their vet insurance.

But it's just so bloody boring. I thought about popping to the shop for a bottle of wine, but then remembered I can't.

Then it's DS' birthday, 2 days later. He was due on the 1st, but I managed to hold him in a bit longer, for this very reason! Everyone is the skintest they'll be all year, just in time for his birthday, for ever 😢

You think you delayed the birth of your child? Confused

Getting paid tomorrow and we have £150 left but no savings. All bills sorted though and enough food. I get overtime paid in February and dh is getting a pay rise. This month will be tighter as we have a few Xmas klarna due in the next few weeks. February will hopefully be much better and I’m going to use the extra overtime to pay some debt off.
