What is your favourite alcoholic drink?

Mine is a tanqueray gin and tonic with lots of ice, no lime.

I'm currently doing dry January so not having any! But I saw the little cans in asda tonight and I reminded me of how much I like a double with ice!

Anyone else?

Caipirinha. Bliss in a glass.

An ice cold vodka martini or negroni before dinner.

Why a negroni before dinner may I ask? Negroni is a drink that (in my opinion) is best with a chocolaty pudding after one too many

I've never heard of it! A cocktail or a wine? Or something else entirely?

@Assthatwontquit I first had one sitting in a cafe in Turin as an aperitivo, so associate them with the anticipation of dinner!

I like pedro ximenez sherry or passito di pantelleria with pudding, a negroni is way to medicinal

Bonjovispyjamas · 12/01/2025 00:49

Strawberry and lime cider.

Couldn't agree more with passito di pantelleria! That with any type of cheesecake and chocolate puds are not to be borne.

I'm a novice on the negronis I have to admit. I have had 2 that was absolutely vile in Florence and one that was tolerable in Edinburgh (of all places)

It's funny because I do drink alcohol, but I don't have a favourite drink. It all depends on my mood. Mostly I go for:

Red wine (usually rioja or malbec)
Pinot grigio
Gin and tonic

Or Kopperberg, they taste the same I think.

No33 · 12/01/2025 00:55

Southern french reds
Italian whites
A good martini, the original gin kind

SnowFrogJelly · 12/01/2025 00:55

Champagne..

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/01/2025 01:09

A good Italian red wine or a mojito

DH makes lovely champagne cocktails. My favourite is a proper Bucks Fizz though. We had some recently in the club where it was invented.

GameOfJones · 12/01/2025 10:03

I agree with a gin and tonic.......Mermaid gin for me with fever tree tonic and lots of ice. It's just so refreshing.

I also really love a glass of good red wine. As long as it's smooth and full-bodied. Normally I go for a Malbec but I've been trying some of Tom Gilbey's recommendations on Instagram to branch out a bit and they've been very good.

Gin and tonic for in the garden on a summer's day.......a glass of red in the winter in a pub with a log fire.

RabbitsRock · 12/01/2025 10:03

I don’t drink anymore but used to love a large chilled glass of a South African Chardonnay from Waitrose. Really miss the taste of that one. Was very partial to a large G & T too.

Cattery · 12/01/2025 10:10

A nice can of Carlsberg
