Advise me about airfryers

I am trying to be healthy. Widowed on my own. After my husband died I didn’t bother with cooking - lots of microwave meals.( too much effort to put oven on for one) Feel fat and unfit- but taken myself in hand - joined my doctors 12 week health and weight management course they are running. Everyone going on about air fryers but they have huge families. ( My kids visit when they can but live quite a distance away).
Can anyone recommend an airfyer that’s small or would I be best to buy a bigger better one. Thanks for reading

I think it will be fine!! Like you say - upgrade later if you want more space. The other good thing is that it doesn’t take up too much room and it’s easy to put the bits in the dishwasher. Hope you enjoy it!

Perfect that was very similar to my first one. I notice one of the reviews said not powerful enough for frozen chips. I quite often put fully frozen stuff in the microwave for a bit just till it’s defrosted.

I have recently bought 2 small air fryers from Asda. One £20 3.6l and one £25 (still on offer) 4l for DD

Absolutely super for my needs 😊

I like a hot lunch when I'm in on my own such as chicken, salmon and much better than heating oven for 1 serving (rarely did this as seemed so wasteful) . It's fine for with DH too for 2 people. DH has just had tempura prawns for lunch which he thinks are better in air fryer than oven.
Tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon, sausage- all cooked v quickly for lunches

I was on the fence for a while but the best £20 I have spent. DD loves hers too

Watching this with interest. Thinking of getting one for my single Dad. I think it would be great for him but good to get tips from others cooking for one.

My dad has one and loves it. Like pp have suggested a two drawer one is great, can do meat / fish in one side, veg or chips / roasties in the other.

I am happy with a small one. I don’t have a lot of willpower - if it cooked 4 litres of oven chips I’d probably eat them all.

Get a small 2 drawer one.Ideal for cooking for one.

Now you have the fryer go on youtube and you will find loads of recipes for beginners or a book (usually cheaper in supermarkets). I live on my own and have a dual drawer plus a bigger one which I use for bulk cooking like spicy chicken pieces for the freezer - I cook 4 low fat burgers and freeze 3.
Yes you can make "wet" food in the airfryer but mashed potatoes on the stove top or buy bags of frozen ones so you can take out how much you need.

For anyone else planning to get one, measure your space carefully, depth, height and width. Allow the recommended space above it (about 13cm) and around it and consider sitting it on a heatproof mat, pull it out from under any cupboards before cooking and consider putting a heat reflecting sheet under the cupboards. Probably over cautious but I have one of those double stack ones - it's been great but it does need space around it on all sides, it's taller than most, and I have googled too many pictures of air fryers causing fires.

The original Ninja one drawer is 30% off on Amazon. If just re bought it after giving mine away to DC when their oven was broken. I missed it. So convenient to bung in some fish, nuggets, chips etc. for the kids but not necessarily what you want it for.

@jojoanofaardvark I got them as a set from Amazon which was £10. It came with tongs, 2 stands, 2 trays, 100 disposable inserts.

Do the silicone trays come with that airfare or are they something you can buy separately? Thanks

I've struggled to see the use for them

A bit of tinfoil and bin it
