If you manage a person or a team

Do you feel a sense of pride they or the team accomplish something and succeed at something in the workplace?

As in do you yourself feel happy if someone you manage produces a really good piece of work?

Of course
a good manager should empower their team to develop and produce great work
alls successes should be shared and celebrated

LittleRedRidingHoody · 11/01/2025 10:46

Yes absolutely!

I'm in a role where I don't have a huge amount of 'work' but I oversee teams and their projects - seeing the projects work out and getting to champion the results to the rest of the senior team is one of my favourite parts of my job!

BloodyHellBob · 11/01/2025 10:53

Yes, absolutely and I'm also delighted when they get a promotion. I've been lucky over the years to actually like the vast majority of people in my teams but even so I'm always proud of their achievements.

Eminybob · 11/01/2025 10:56

Yes I'm both proud of them when they accomplish something, but also proud of myself when I know it is my support/coaching/mentoring which has helped them achieve it.

mynameiscalypso · 11/01/2025 10:58

Yes, I do. But it's also partly for selfish reasons - if they produce good work, I have to spend less of my time reviewing it or editing it.

Harassedevictee · 11/01/2025 12:45

Definitely. Seeing staff who I have managed and developed go on to achieve amazing things is so rewarding.

I have managed and developed people who will go on to much higher levels that I could achieve I see that as my legacy.

TheSmallAssassin · 11/01/2025 12:53

Yes, to be honest that's one of the things that gives me most satisfaction at work!

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 11/01/2025 14:47

Absolutely! In the various leadership roles I've had, it's been part and parcel of my job to encourage and support the team. When they achieve something, it's fantastic for all of us. The same when - sigh/tears/pride - they go and get a new role or job because of the development they've had with me.

BBQPete · 11/01/2025 15:58

Of course.

HermioneWeasley · 11/01/2025 16:01

Of course.

Sorry for the late reply. But one of the grads I manage produced a fab piece of work that the client was super super happy about. I could see how happy she was to hear that from the client and yes I did feel proud of them.

Yep, I don’t think people realise how much good managers emotionally invest into their teams, I have a high performing team in a really pressurised environment, some have gone on to win industry awards and have genuinely shed a tear of happiness for them.
