Dcblegal - parking fine

Hi, I could really do with some advise.

So I have received two parking fines from a company at the same car park, both which I feel are unfair. The first time, I had a meeting at my daughters school, it said pay at the machines but there were no machines, I tried paying online but the website wouldn't work. When I got it to work after the meeting, I paid for the time I was at the carpark but obviously not for the time I was there as it was late. The second time, they had put up a notice by then about removing the machines and to pay online, I tried, the website wouldn't work and it let me submit a query on the website to show this. I appealed, they didn't denied the appeal.

So I started receiving letters from DCBLegal and from research online it said to ignore these so I did. But they are still sending letters and I am concerned as I don't want to go to court, a part of me just wishes I paid them even though I tried my best to pay for parking there and did when i could.

It's saying now that if I don't pay the £170 it is likely that a claim will be made against me.

Has anyone dealt with similar? Not sure where to go with it now but feeling concerned.

I'm not an expert but this happened to pop up on my feed from Sky News this evening and it seems comprehensive:
do-i-need-to-pay

I would pay as it's too late to now appeal.

Never just ignore Notices from private firms parking firms. Years ago you could possibly get away with it but changes to the legislation mean that it is now v likely that legal action will be taken against debtors.

They will claim against you. I had one recently for my old workplace, totalling almost 2 grand! Finally just got it dropped after finding a contact email for an actual human online and sending proof of my employment. But I don't know if your reasoning would wash with them tbh...

I just feel it's so unfair as I tried to pay! But the car park only gives you 10 mins to pay and by the time I parked, looked for the machines and tried the app it was past the time. And I did pay as soon as I could then, after the meeting.

I really don't want to go to court so thinking of just paying, but it just feels wrong. The car park has been in the news about this

It may well be unfair however your chance to argue that point, provide proof of (your late) payment and news reports has gone. Unfortunately that's on you because you chose to believe info online rather than following the appeals process.

It's an expensive lesson and I certainly wouldn't want to pay that much. However if you leave it much longer, my feeling is that it will only get worse.

Parking fines are the devil’s arsehole.

I do get what your saying. But I did appeal it and they didn't accept it

Join this Facebook page. They are excellent and will give free and very informed advice. Read the rules though about not naming the driver etc. https://m.facebook.com/groups/PrivateParkingTickets/?ref=share

My apologies - I misread that part of your post. So you appealed and then didn't pay within the time period given.
