Can you plug a fan heater into an extension cord?

I bought a new heater. It's a fan heater. So it's a small rectangle type of heater.

Just wondering if it can be used in an extension cord or do I need to plug it into the wall. I do have a wall plugs but it's hard to get to due to furniture so I have an extension cord to power my mobile phone and other bits.

I did use my rechargeable heating bad that's plugged in from the extension cord and all worked well.

I don't know about a fan heater.

So, i'm in no world an electrician.

But i was always told the risk was in overloading the whole thing, by using lots of 'high draw' things. I think a modern socket is good for 3000 watts, at 13 amps.

So running your 2000 watt fan heater and your 2500 watt kettle may cause issues.

Running your 2000 watt fan heater with a 7 watt lamp probably won't.

This is assuming your sockets, consumer unit, extension, fan heater etc are all in excellent working order.

I'd probably stick it in the wall, on balance.

P.S, the above is misremembered, 3rd hand info. So, you know, don't quote me.

Yes you can.
But don't have any other high power things on the same extension at the same time.
So no toaster, hair dryer etc.
