Really fancy one, currently deciding between a Le Cresuet, an Aga (still don't know if I can use it on gas hob though?) and a Stellar one, like the design of them all. I am slightly put off by the reviews I read on LC ones although I do love their color range.

Can we have a nice Friday thread where you show pics of yours and also share suggestions?

Not quite what you're asking for maybe, but this one's a modern design classic and it's got a lovely, lovely sound. Would get it again in a heartbeat.

Discover 9091 kettle with melodic whistle consisting of two vents in which the tuners that reproduce the notes mi and si are inserted, designed by Richard Sapper.

@GrumpyPanda looks fab but sadly out of my budget, was hoping to spend £100 max - my kitchen is also quite "traditional" so wanted a more classic look but it does look beautiful!

Bit left field, but look at boat chandlery. Boat kettles are whistling so you can hear them when you're on deck. You should be able to get a decent one for £20-30. Most boat hobs are gas too, so ticks that box.

Mine is a blue le Creuset from TKmaxx, years ago.

TiffanyIceberg · 10/01/2025 13:36

I have this one, Le Crueset, I adore it.

TiffanyIceberg · 10/01/2025 13:41

This one, sorry

@TiffanyIceberg love the shape, is it an old one?

I had a black LeCrueset whistling kettle and while it was fine initially, after about 2 years it started losing the metal on the inside which ended up in our drinks! I was very disappointed as they are not cheap kettles. I binned it and won’t bother with a stove top again.

MixedFamily · 10/01/2025 13:51

@Quornflakegirl oh that’s bad! Was it not stainless steel?

It is, had it maybe 15 years or so.

Hemlocked · 10/01/2025 13:58

I have a cone le creuset kettle in cream. It's wonderful.

MixedFamily · 10/01/2025 13:59

@Hemlocked how old? And do you have issues with rust and flaking?

We have a cheap camping kettle - simple classic design and does the job. Was meant to be a stopgap while we got a posh one but we can’t justify replacing it! Link

I got it second hand in a charity shop so not sure how old it is. I've had it about three years. No rusting or flaking so far!

I’ve got the Pykal whistling kettle. It’s fine, works well, nothing fancy! I did have a lovely Le Creuset one but the inside started flaking away within weeks of me buying. Turned out that you shouldn’t use it with the boost function on an induction hob! (That probably depends on the power of the hob I suppose) Shame as it was really lovely. I’m very tempted with the Alessi kettle.
