I'm so excited to be planning this. Just me and her and 2 nights in Paris.

London to Gare du Nord on Eurostar.
In May.

Should I get a train hotel package or Airbnb? She wouldn't swim so rule that out.

She's autistic so huge crowds are a no. What extra help is available for her in Paris and do they do carers passes for the tourist and museum entries?

Other No - excessive Metro travel.

Yes to art museums
High Fashion window shopping and cheap fashion actual shopping

Arc D T over Eiffel ?

Not a fussy eater so food recommendations - no fast food outlets.

I will do an itinerary for her because of her autism so could you fab lot help me work out what to put on it?

Thanks!!

Stay as close as you can to the centre so you can walk. 8th, 7th even 15th arrondissements good locations. I do this so I never have to use the metro as I feel very unsafe on it (a friend was grabbed on it and someone then practically put his head in my bag when I opened it!). If she's a girly girl, the beauty department in the Samaritaine department store is worth a look - its beautiful!

just back from Paris in November (been lots) I would recommend:
the big pharmacie downstairs at les halles if she’s into skincare etc!
instead of eiffel, I took my teen to Montparnasse Tower. It was much quieter and you get the view OF Eiffel. If you work out the timings for after dusk, the view will be glittery views
the Seine boat ride

CatStoleMyChocolate · 10/01/2025 06:58

Try Tour Montparnasse - the views are great and actually include the Eiffel Tower, and it’s far less crowded. The Eiffel Tower itself will be crowded and you have to either queue on the day for tickets or buy three months in advance when released.

I didn’t find Paris as rammed as London when I took my autistic DC last year. Busiest bits were Île de la Cité and Place du Tertre/Sacre Coeur in Montmartre. Everything else was quite manageable.

Just seen she’s not a fussy eater - have a look for Bouillon Chartier - they’re a chain of incredibly reasonably priced French bistros which do all the classics. We walked into the Gare de l’Est one.

Also recommend the boats on the Seine - “bateaux-mouches”.

If you stop in a hotel near gare du nord, you will be close to montmartre in the evening (a good arty spot for a stroll) and not have far to go from Eurostar. That’s very useful as it’s when you will have luggage. Most hotels will have a luggage room you can leave a bag in during the day the day you arrive/leave as well.

If she likes fashion Dior and dolce gabana both have museums but probably crowded.
