I'm aware today is the last day to register for a new course. I've been finding the site quite confusing- perhaps that doesn't bode well ?!! I'd like to study 16 hrs p/w or less (as I'm a Carer & that is all the hours I could squeeze. I'd like to work towards a Degree involving study of Religion/ Politics/Philosophy type subjects.
Perhaps starting with Cert or Diploma level so I'd have something to show if my responsibilities (or age, as I'm 57!) meant I couldn't do the whole degree.
I've not studied formally for many years. Will I get more than 1 attempt at each essay, does anyone know please?

Years since I studied with them, so it might have changed. Fifteen years ago, it was level one, two and three, and you needed to get points from each level to accrue towards your total degree.
A certificate at level one was 60 points. I would say about 15 hours a week study. What you need to bear in mind is the higher levels need more hours, and you have to complete higher levels. So, I was spending about 30 hours a week at level 3.

We didn’t get to redo the assignments, you were graded and that was it. Also end of year exams at a local centre.

Could you call an advisor to discuss, because it might well have changed since I did my degree.

@Middlemarch123 Thank you ! I've now signed up for a fast track acess course. I nearly went straight for a Level 1 course but I thought this might be better as I've not studied since 1991. Quite excited now :)

Good luck OP, I had a long break from school to OU, was so nervous but absolutely loved it. I wish you all the best.

I'm studying with them i went straight in after not studying for 25 years but level 1 is pretty easy going eases you in nicely. You don't get to do redo essays in any of the modules I've studied so far! It's great studying with them and once you get started, the website/app are really easy to navigate!

No exams anymore. It’s all essay assessment. You study & then have approx 3 essays to write at around two month intervals with a longer final piece at the end. You don’t get to redo but can leave the course and postpone to the following year if you feel you’re not progressing as you’d like. The level 1 courses are very accessible. I hadn’t studied for years and managed fine. Jumps up at level 2 & 3 obvs but you’re prepared by then.

Should be: 'access' (!)
Hope I've done the right thing with access not Level 1 now, as I don't think I can change it after midnight tonight.
