Please can you help me with a cleaning routine after years of health issues?

After almost a decade of a a chronic condition which has rendered me exhausted and sleeping poorly, things are al improving. I'm absolutely elated and although I'm not 100% like my former self, the difference in my energy/ mood is amazing! I actually cried, I was so grateful.

During the Xmas hols, I started a deep clean / organise of the house. I just have one bedroom and bathroom to do.

As I am out of having a cleaning/ organising routine for so long, I wanted some advice on how I can keep the house in order once I've done the deep clean. I'm pretty good at decluttering when I get round to it but it's the keeping on top of it all that messes me up.

What are your routines? When do you fit in things like a deep clean of the cooker / fridge? How often do you mop? It's the kitchen I struggle with?
Do you have a day set per room?

I really hope my condition improves more and I can get my life back. I have so many things I'd like to do and feel so sad that my kids have missed out on stuff because I've been like a zombie most of the time.

Tis

I’m glad you feel so much better. I just want to write please do not over do it, that’s my main concern.

I have a house that is clutter free, well the loft and huge cupboards were not until recently but all surfaces were. We always have shoes off at the door, it cuts down on dirt trodden in obviously. I have a heavy duty doormat, then a regular one and then a washable mat at the front door. I sweep the floor or have my little robot hoover clean the kitchen floor most days but I tend to spot clean with a Cloth and don’t mop the entire floor often. I absolutely hate cleaning so I’m more about prevention than doing actual cleaning.

I have very few ornaments or anything that could collect dust.

@ViciousCurrentBun thank you, yes I definitely know I am going to have some bad days like Tuesday this week. Monday, I was fine and I managed to clear out a cupboard in the bedroom but Tuesday, I just crashed after work. I am even able to spend time playing with my youngest which is making such a difference. I know it's early days and I'm nowhere near my normal self, might never be tbh but the difference it's made, I'm so grateful for.

I aim to do about 30 minutes a day. I have a routine so I do certain jobs on certain days, and have them listed as recurring tasks in my phone calendar as I like ticking them off. E.g.

M - change all the bedding and towels

T - mop and vacuum all the floors

W - empty all the bins

T - dusting

F - clean the bathrooms

S - clean the kitchen

S - monthly job

My "monthly jobs" are things like clean out the fridge, clean my car, clean the oven and wash the windows.

I do a load of laundry every day so it's never piled up and I put my dishwasher and washing machine on a hot cleaning cycle once a month too.

Having a set routine has really helped keep me organised, but I'm quite a routine driven person so it may not work for everyone. In general though I prefer doing little and often rather than one big clean.
