Pneumonia breathlessness...

How long should did it take you to fully recover from pneumonia? I'm on day two of antibiotics and the mucus has started to clear but I'm still very breathless and find I'm exhausted doing very little.

I'm longing for my full health to return

Poor you, OP,
It's horrid. Your breathlessness will last quite a bit longer, to be realistic. Often a few weeks after finishing antibiotics. However, if you are still the same, after 10 days, I would see the GP again, ( to get your chest listened to, but also to get a chest XRay.
Depending on the antibiotics, they may need to change them, for instance, from Doxycycline to Claithromycin.
They may then want to repeat the chest x ray at 6 weeks to check any spots on the 1st one have cleared up.
Good luck x

Agreed that it takes a long time. Sorry to hear you're so ill. It's awful.
I do remember the antibiotics working fairly quickly but it still took a while before I could lie down flat to sleep and longer still to sleep on my right side. I was breathless to some extent for weeks after I 'recovered' from the illness.

Take it easy and just accept you're going to take a little while to get back to work.

I am a respiratory nurse, BTW.
If your symptoms actually deteriorate, contact your GP earlier than 10 days, but it sounds like things are going in the right direction. Unfortunately, Pneumonia can totally pollax you, and you may ( hopefully not), feel exhausted for a while after the acute symptoms have subsided.
Lots of rest, if you can, wholesome food, not too much exercise ( ie, don't get yourself back in the gym, for example). You need to take things gently, to recover.
