Work related after maternity leave

Hi all, so i found a job literally 2 minute walking for my house, which is a big plus, a 18hour per week job, and i got a one year old, so if ever needed i would be really close home ( as my partner would stay with baby while i work). All perfect.
but i currently got a job in a warehouse with an agency 0 hour contract but as i worked there long enough i took maternity leave paid for 39 weeks at 181£ per week.
i don't want to go back there as i found this one, but i got all my holidays to get paid for from the current job.
As it is a 0 hour contract do i need to give notice? i will of course give notice about a week before but just hoping its no any longer as im trying to play it safe and secure the new job i found before i quit. The new job is start immediately and i applied but i still need an interview and all so its not 100%.
so resuming, do i need to give notice? will they get me into trouble cause i had paid maternity leave? and will they pay my holidays in full? ( i got about 20 days)
thanks and sorry for the big text

What does your contract say about paying back maternity leave if you don’t return to work?
you need to know that. Speak to your hr department

With £181 a week, you will have been on statutory maternity pay, which means you do not need to pay any of it back to your employer if you leave. They cannot get you into trouble. You were working there on your qualifying week of pregnancy and so you were entitled to statutory maternity pay and it doesn’t matter what you do now.

You will need to take or be paid any holiday days you have accrued but if you have not accrued them but used them, you’ll need to pay that back. For example, if your leave year is April to March then you have 20 days to use between April and March. If you leave your job at the end of January then you will have used accrued 10/12 months of leave so roughly you would have accrued 16.5 days and so you would need to pay back 3.5 days. I would assume with a zero hours contract that you cannot take more than you have accrued because you don’t have a certain number of hours to work or certain number of months but check your contract. Also, do you work bank holidays through your job? The minimum allowance for annual leave is 20 days + 8 bank holidays and so if you have worked bank holidays that should be taken into account.

As for notice period, I would check your contract. You will possibly need to give notice but I don’t think it would be very long. Do not notice until you have signed and returned the contract for the new role though (assuming you get it). If that means you delay the start of the new job a week, then delay for a week.
