Co "parent" whinge thread

DS (17) has had a date in the diary for major surgery for 4 months. He has been told there's a minimum 3 week recovery period and needs someone on hand to help him through.

DS told both myself and XH (DS dad) this date as soon as he got it. DS moves between our homes alternate weeks, as he likes it that way.

DS was told over Christmas that XH had just booked flights to see his wankbuddy new girlfriend in USA. He'll be gone 2 weeks with the weekend each end. So he's told his son he'll be able to nurse him for 2 days at the end of the recovery period, once jetlag is factored in.

Ignoring the impact on me, how frikking feckless do you have to be to travel to another continent to meet a relative stranger when your son is undergoing major surgery?

How anyone could have such little care for their child is beyond me. I cannot get my head around it.

I could list a whole load more things he's done, but yesterday's took the biscuit.

What does your co "parent" do that is worryingly unloving to their child?

DDs dad said she had private medical insurance but refused her access to it. She’s been on the NHS waiting list for 18 months.
My opinion of ex remains below the floor.

Mine didn't see the children for 7 years after leaving me. Never paid a penny towards them or their upkeep and despite being in the same town managed to remain hidden, largely aided by his family and friends. Eventually my husband adopted them and his rights were taken away. So yes, there are parents who don't care.
