Wedding advice with 2 year old

We are due to tie the knot in June of this year and our little boy will be 2 years old by then. We have plenty of family and friends at the wedding that will all chip in to help and make sure he’s content.

I’m just starting to panic about the practicalities of the day 😂. Do 2 year olds still nap at lunch time? He currently has 2 hours over lunch and our ceremony starts at 1:30. He’s managed on a 30 min nap in the past but will crash about 7pm.

Our venue is a barn type and our room is directly about the venue itself. Do we have a pram on standby so he can sleep in there, the transfer up at the end of the night? (Approx finish midnight) Or do we take him up to the room before that and set up our baby monitor? I’m not so keen on the second idea to be honest given that it’s a new environment he’s not familiar with.

If anybody has got married and had a similar experience please share tips 😊

Get a nanny for 24h.

@MidnightPatrol my friend suggested this. Have you done it before?

Some friends of mine hired one of the staff from her daughter's nursery to look after her two year old at her wedding. If your DS goes to nursery you could try asking around there.

Many 2 year olds still nap at lunchtime, esp if he'll be at the younger end of 2. I'd probably get someone to try and force an early nap by waking him up early in the morning, giving him lunch at 11, and then taking him for a buggy walk at 11:30.

I've been to a wedding (as a guest) with a similar setup with baby monitors at the venue and it was fine for my 2yo, though admittedly he didn't tend to wake up in the night.

Pushchair is your friend here, make sure you have whatever are his favourite bribes (good, toys, set of keys, whatever and go with the flow, it will be brilliant and who cares if he's crashed out or doesn't want to sit still!

You could do it yourself, but it'll be stressful and take your attention away from your special day. Hire someone to run around after him

Absolutely. From a safety point of view apart from anything else you need an appointed responsible person, otherwise family members will be enjoying their day assuming someone else is looking after your toddler.
