Want to stay in Christmas where I’m safe!

Anyone else nervous as anything about going back to the grind? I’m a freelancer tutor so all my advertising, planning etc is up to me and I get soooo nervous. I miss work colleagues and people to bounce ideas off/support. I know it will be ok once I get going, though I still get anxious before every lesson. I just want to go back to hiding with sparkly lights and chocolate where I’m safe.
please any tips welcome! How do you all cope with it?

I live in a city with an awful lot of what used to be called ‘crammers’ - post-sixth form private colleges where wealthy independent school leavers study for A’ Level retakes. There are also an infinite number of language colleges. Might this sort of work appeal to you, purely for the possibility of actually having colleagues?

I do know what you mean regarding extending the Christmas period. But on the other hand plenty of people are longing for it to be over …

Same, I loved my Christmas bubble, now it's back to reality!

Know what you mean. I did actually work Thursday and Friday but wfh but lots of people off and it was quiet. Got lots done. But this week back to commuting a couple of days and Events on. Grateful I had a lot of time off over Xmas though.

I am a self employed tutor and could have written your post @Winenota!

January is a tough month for many. Part of me craves the return of routine but I am also slightly apprehensive about the coming few weeks. Jan/Feb always seems to be the toughest time in tutoring in terms of motivating students, illness, missed lessons etc. Oh and then completing the self assessment tax return 😬

I've been tutoring a good few years now and find that the best way to deal with this time of year is be super enthusiastic with the students, lots of extra praise etc. Positive vibes even if it's not how I'm feeling. Keep ploughing on and before we know it, we will be heading towards March and the first signs of Spring.

Keep the bubble going outside of work hours so you have it to relax in during the evenings. Not full on Christmas but lights and candles, blankets and nice food. That’s what I plan on doing throughout January.

Thank you! Just reassuring to know I’m not the only one!
cagney and ourdreamlife they are very good tips I think. Especially lights and candles blankets and nice foods, and being positive because it will soon be spring! I may overdo Valentine’s Day just because. A valentines tree aAnd heart fairy lights maybe!
I loathe taking the Xmas tree down - the house seems to just become dull and unreal!
good luck tomorrow everyone 🌸🌼
