Where to park for getting in and out of London?

Heading down very early Tuesday morning for a work meeting near Westminster, so I obviously don’t want to drive all the way into central!
I’ll be coming down from lincolnshire, so usually either M1 or M11.
I would usually park in Stratford and tube the rest of the way in but in the evening I need to head to Camberley in Surrey with my vehicle and it’s a pain to be on the wrong side of town.
Has anyone got any suggestions for where I could park on the outskirts of town to tube in, which then puts me in roughly the right place/direction, or even just a slightly easier one, for the evening journey please?

I've got nothing! Sounds like a hellish day. Are you staying over in Camberley? I'd probably look on JustPark for something incredibly expensive near London Bridge??

PermanentTemporary · 04/01/2025 21:04

Hmm. Maybe park in Camberley and train in to the meeting?

babiesinthesnowflakes · 04/01/2025 21:05

Epsom? Direct trains to Waterloo and from there it’s an easy walk to Westminster.

That sounds a nightmare tbh. Stanmore? It's down the M1 and you're on the right tube line. You can go back up M1 to pick up M25 round to Surrey (bit of a pain as you have to wiggle through Watford but would work).

I'd park at Park Plaza Car Park in Victoria for a vast amount of money but imo it would be worth it to try and make that day work.

If you change your mind and decide to park centrally I have used this car park in Westminster fairly often (driving from near Camberley). Britannia Parking, Upper Marsh, Waterloo, SE1
Or park at Surbiton train station?

I park here and go down the m1. Easy journey with no issues. Not sure of location regarding your end destination but it's easy and cheap.

I’d drive for longer at the start of my day and park somewhere along the Waterloo line. Eg Guildford - get off the M25 and it’s a junction or 2 down the A3, parking at Guildford station for the day is £11. Then maybe 40 mins into Waterloo on the train? Then Westminster is right there. Then back to the car and down the road to Camberley.

Yes I was going to say similar. Or maybe get to somewhere like Staines which would be closer to you than Guildford I think? Train into Waterloo a bit under an hour. And not far at all to drive to Camberley.

Doveyouknow · 04/01/2025 21:24

One of the central line stations like debden / Epping off the M11. They have parking and it would leave you closer to the M25.

stealthninjamum · 04/01/2025 21:30

Somewhere like Weybridge or Walton on Thames? They’re just inside the M25 and have quite fast trains to Waterloo.

Stuck1001 · 04/01/2025 21:36

West Byfleet - just off of the M25 and a short hop to Camberley. Loads of trains in and out of Waterloo.

pippitypoppitypoo · 04/01/2025 21:38

Woking- fast trains from Waterloo (fastest 25mins) and only 10 miles to camberley from there)

Tolsty · 04/01/2025 21:39

Park in Epping(on M11)-take central line.

Sasskitty · 04/01/2025 21:42

Maybe drive to and park in Richmond near the station (painful in the morning but easy once you’re parked up). Then district line to Westminster. District line back to Richmond drive to camberly.

Nitgel · 04/01/2025 21:46

Yes Stanmore or Edgware. Edgware has a commuter car park for £6.

SleekWhisky · 04/01/2025 21:47

Personally I would park somewhere in sw14, you can get the train to Waterloo and then very easily drive out to Camberly.

No parking restrictions and very safe.

If you pm me I'll give you a few road suggestions

Isanyonereallyanonymous · 04/01/2025 21:49

Thanks all, mumsnet to the rescue. Really appreciate all the suggestions, I’ll have a look at them.
Ill need to be there for 9.45am so I’ll weigh up the shortest/quickest option for the morning, it’s less critical to get to Camberley quickly afterwards.
Ironically I used to live in Woking but discounted heading that way because of it adding on to the drive, but it’s certainly a quick route into town so that might balance it out. I shall do some googling!

This is a good idea. The NCP is literally next to the station. We drive and park ther e a lot when we go to the theatre.

Nitgel · 04/01/2025 21:49

Sorry ignore me miles from Surrey

Linens · 04/01/2025 21:49

Surbiton has a big car park and fast train to waterloo
Then onto a3 for camberley

Linens · 04/01/2025 21:50

Be very aware of j10 on M25 at the mo.
it’s horrific.
