Can I do this on my own? DIY question!

I am removing an internal door which I think I'm ok with.

Another internal door is damaged so I thought about replacing it with the door I'm going to remove. Will this be simple enough on my own or so I need to get someone in?

Measure measure measure!

That will be the key - if it fits in the other doorway. If not - it might need planing if it's slightly too big, or possibly the hinges might be in a slightly different place, or the handles and therefore the catch are slightly higher or lower

It can be quite hard to put a door on if you are on your own- they are heavy and need lifting up to put the hinges in the right place. But you can buy inflatable wedges to help lift the door if you don't have anyone on hand.

You can give it a try and hope that it fits. If not, put the broken one back one on and you've lost nothing other than an hour of your time.

Even if your house is relatively new, it is still likely that all the doors won't be 100% identical. They may have been planed to fit the doorway as, inevitably, the wood in the doorframes will differs slightly in each one. More so if you have an older house where frames, etc, will have sagged or gone off plumb.

However, it isn't that difficult to plane a door to fit and then to fit it in the doorway but you will need the right tools. It is also hard with one person to hang the door back in the doorway. You can get an airwedge or fashion a bit of a lever at the bottom with a hammer handle and a screwdriver and use it with your foot (you'd need to google that one to see what I mean) to lift the door.

If you are going to need to buy tools to do the job, that is the point at which I'd say consider getting in a local handyperson.
