I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. The kittens are causing havoc playing in here, and everyone else is still sleeping.

I've had a bit of a tidy round already, while the kettle was boiling, and will do the rest when I've drunk my cuppa.

We're off into town today - the girls are shopping with their dad for my birthday in the week & I need to return something I was given for Christmas. Except I don't quite know what I did with the receipt after I was given it 🙄

I think we might eat in town, then head home for an afternoon of nothing much. Maybe finish taking down the decorations.

This evening will be a help yourself kind of affair for tea, if we eat out, followed by early ish showers all round. Then chill with my book before bed.

I've just realised I told dd2 I'd look at her History homework at some point too, so we'd best squeeze that in!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and All

Got up early this morning as needed to drop car at garage for 8.30 for its MOT and service. DD12 was not impressed at the early wake up but we stopped off for a coffee and croissant on the walk home and it was a lovely bracing walk.

ChristmasGrinch24 - I saw Sonic3 yesterday with DD12 and we both really enjoyed it.

Will call my Mum in a bit for a natter and then DD and I will pop out this afternoon to pick the car up. Hopefully before any potential snow comes our way.

Going to watch the Wicked film on Virgin tonight with possibly a takeaway pizza - last treat of the holidays and desperately trying not to think of going back to work/school on Monday!!!!!

popandchoc · 04/01/2025 10:39

Had breakfast. Sat under heated blanket watching tv for a bit.
Not been well and still got bad cough so haven't been able to pack away christmas decorations yet. Hoping i get enough break from coughing to do it today.
Might buy wicked to watch at home as well today.

RabbitsRock · 04/01/2025 10:44

The Wicked film is amazing! DH & I saw it at the cinema before Christmas. Would love to watch it again as there is so much going on, you can’t take it all in. A visual feast! Plus I had to go to the loo at one of the most crucial points so definitely need to watch for a second time!

Morning all

It’s a cold one here too. I’m still having my tea in bed but will jump in shower soon then round up everyone. Meeting Family for a dog walk.

Everyone is finishing breakfast. DDog is wandering hoping for scraps. Both DCats and snoozing in the ironing pile!

Pork for tea tonight and a final clear up of all the Christmas decorations and a clean.

Not much planned for tonight. Tempted now to watch wicked too.

Taytocrisps · 04/01/2025 10:51

I dropped DD to work for 8.30.

I'm currently at the hairdresser, with my hair covered in hair dye.

I've to take down my tree and decorations when I get home. And hoover/dust the sitting room when that's done.

I've to collect DD from work at 4. Then cook dinner.

DD is heading to a 21st birthday party this evening ( a 20 minute drive away). I've to drop her and her boyfriend and another friend. A little anxious about the weather but we'll see...

Then collect them at some late hour. The boyfriend and friend are staying at my house.

Andnowshesatoddler · 04/01/2025 10:55

Just waiting for my DD to wake up and then we're off for a walk she's decided she wants a "baby pizza" for lunch today so little walk to the shop and hopefully home for some play time before we go for a play date this afternoon.

TheTecknician · 04/01/2025 11:05

I'm having a quietish day as I'm just getting past a lingering cold. Just having coffee in Costa and contemplating my current earworm - Wishful Thinking by China Crisis. Curry for dinner and pub tonight. Might be snowbound for much of tomorrow!😒

Stressybetty · 04/01/2025 11:07

Back in bed keeping warm with a cuppa after sorting the dogs out. Washing nearly finished and dishwasher on. Need to do our Lidl food shop today using the 10% voucher and return and collect from Next, hopefully it should be quiet while the Newcastle match is on. Tonight or tomorrow baking dog biscuits for the week. Must hoover and shampoo carpets upstairs tomorrow, been putting it off.

worriedgal · 04/01/2025 11:09

We have had a lovely morning watching tv in bed and scrolling with toast and coffee
I'm having a long bath and pamper later and then maybe a movie with dh.
Dd is meant to be meeting friends tonight but we have snow forecast so if she goes one of us will take and collect her as I don't want her driving in the snow .

Giggorata · 04/01/2025 11:30

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I like the idea of extending Christmas! We've certainly got the food for it, still.

My plans for today don't extend much beyond a bit of housework and laundry.
DH is out helping our friend harvest his wood supply for next year.

I am also working on writing something for the Burns Night supper some friends hold every year, when everyone who feels like it “does a turn”. Inspiration hasn't struck yet, especially when I am in the middle of an engrossing book.

I am getting rid of creatively using some left over gammon in a macaroni cheese tonight.

Chipsahoy · 04/01/2025 11:51

Sort of snowed in here. We could get out, but one car is parked at the top of our track as too snowy to drive up and down. That means walking the quarter of a mile. So I’m thinking we stay home!

Cosy day with the Christmas decorations still up, other than hoovering and mopping, zero plans. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

MadmansLibrary · 04/01/2025 11:54

Today is an epic laundry day! We're without a machine so off to the local launderette. I have about 10 loads to achieve today but if I do it all, I'll be hysterical with joy. 😄

MooFroo · 04/01/2025 11:58

Did my first park run today as a walk so was out at 8.30, enjoyed it. Popped into shops on way back and spent £40 on junk and stuff we didn’t really need - but tried to stock up snack and drink for DD to take to school instead of spending a fortune on parent pay on cookies and water!

Dropping DD to her friends bday party, picking up some stuff for DH from a shop and then painting the hallway

no idea yet what’s for dinner so will sort something and thinking about having a bath tonight while reading my book

sounds like a good day overall!

happy Saturday / Christmas Eve to all!

OneLilacEagle · 04/01/2025 11:59

Morning all. Had a lazy start, just pottering around after a poor sleep. No particularly exciting plans today. We've got some chores that need done at some point: meal plan and shop, gut ds's room, start going through mum 's paperwork. But I don't wanna! I want to sit on my bahooky, watch bad TV and knit. Feeling a bit flat post-christmas and not especially looking forward to everything starting up again on Monday. Need to give myself a shake!

MrsTulip · 04/01/2025 12:22

I've just been mooching around at home but now eating lunch, my mum will come over in about an hour. I need to go out later this afternoon/early evening to get some food and also bake DS birthday cake ready for tomorrow afternoon, thankfully he wants a chocolate fudge cake with white chocolate buttons so that's easy enough.

rabbitrabbitrabbitrabbitrabbitrabbitrabbitrabbit · 04/01/2025 13:12

It's v cold out. The house is toasty warm. DH is making cooked bagel brunch for everyone, except me as I can't eat this as I'm being good to lose 2 stone. I'm enjoying the smell of it all instead lol. It smells so good. I'm saving today's calories for fajitas dinner tonight.
There's a really cosy feeling in our house today and I'm loving it

Crunchymum · 04/01/2025 13:21

Hello all.

I'm quite unsure what day it is but I know it's not Christmas Eve 😂

Back to the grindstone of swimming lessons today. Older two are in academy now so they can both swim proficiently but the lessons mean we at least get off our bottoms and go. Youngest has a 1:1 lesson at the same time so it's not too bad.

We then went to the bakery for rolls and the library to get some new books.

Just had lunch (bacon rolls all round) and I'm going to get on with some chores. Oldest is going to crazy golf with a few friends this afternoon but the girls and I are battening down the hatches. It's cold and it's set to snow / piss down here from early hours. We won't be leaving leaving the house tomorrow. Our last PJ day.

Dinner will be tacos for the kids and DP and I have sirloin steak, rosemary potatoes and garlic green beans.

We will watch a film later. Or a few episodes of Young Sheldon. None of us have ever watched Big Bang Theory but we all love Young Sheldon.

DreamSpaceships · 04/01/2025 13:25

I’m not feeling very well today and didn’t sleep well so I’m mostly reading my library book under my heated blanket.

I made soup for lunch and am making a chicken ham and leek pie for dinner.

The kids went to tennis lessons this morning but have been having far too much screen time since, will try to get them off in a bit.

Need to rouse myself to go and hang the washing up.

SauvignonBlonk · 04/01/2025 13:35

I had the worst night of sleep for ages, too much on my mind, so having an easy day today. Have been out with the hound for a walk, DD is still upstairs.
We’re off out for Christmas dinner with friends later on so Lucysmam isn’t far wrong.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/01/2025 14:27

Good afternoon @lucysmam ! Saturday again.... nearly time to go back to work. I've had a cold all week which has been miserable - I had plans for all sorts of things but have only been able to do the essentials.

I saw my oncologist yesterday who confirms that my latest CT shows NED, which is great! I still have 7 months of meds with horrible side effects to go through though, so although I am really happy with my result I can't wait for the treatment to be over. I was worried about some nodules that were showing in my lungs in my previous CT, but apparently they're nothing to worry about, but I do have some evidence of infection in my lungs. My CT was done in early December and I really haven't had any chest infection symptoms (until now), so I'm a bit baffled by that! Anyway - I'm going to have another chest CT in 3 months to keep an eye on that.

So - today I am lazing around in bed feeling sorry for myself. DH has taken down the Christmas tree, tidied up and hoovered. He is now having an afternoon nap.

This evening I think we will watch the second of the Royal Institution's Christmas lectures. We saw the first one several days ago and I did find it interesting. This series is about food and how it is processed.

I think DH has taken some Bolognese sauce out of the freezer to have with pasta tonight. I'm not entirely sure that my gut will cope with that today, so I won't be even a little bit annoyed if he has forgotten. A baked potato or something equally bland is probably best for me today. I

I've had all the days since Christmas off as leave, going back to work on Tuesday. I'm trying to decide whether to self certificate for sickness this last week and to claim the annual leave back - as I am entitled to do. I have over 2 weeks worth of annual leave left to take before the end of March anyway, so it's not like I need it, but if I hadn't had leave I wouldn't have been able to work......

I'm in Devon and it is very cold, but I am conscious that most of the UK has it a lot worse than we do, especially you @Simonjt . I hope you manage to get everything fixed quickly.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/01/2025 14:28

I should say (re: Royal Institution lectures) food and how it is processed in the body!

gingercat02 · 04/01/2025 14:37

Hi @lucysmam long way after morning, but I hate to miss you.
DH and I had a lovely long lounge in bed, and DS did some revision.
From the moaning and groaning upstairs, I guess Newcastle United has just scraped a win.
We are off into town to do a bit of gift exchanging and staying out for tea.
Home to watch last night's traitors, as we were watching the darts yesterday.
Trying to avoid thinking about Monday 🙈

Peridot1 · 04/01/2025 14:48

If it’s Christmas Eve I don’t need to take the Christmas decorations down! Yay.

Oh well.

I slept well last night and was up shortly after 7. Have done some laundry, stripped a guest bed and washed the bedding and helped DH and DS get the boxes for the Christmas decorations down from the loft.

We have far too much so I’ve tried to have a bit of a sort out before we start to take everything down tomorrow.

Just planning on reading my book for the rest of the afternoon and then we are getting fish and chips for dinner.

@DilemmaDelilah - excellent result from your CT scan. 👏👏👏

@Simonjt - hope your boiler issues get sorted.

Stressybetty · 04/01/2025 16:18

Well ended up going back to sleep till 2pm then watching more of the Jackal 😂

GiddyRobin · 04/01/2025 16:30

Good afternoon, @lucysmam ! And everyone else, too!

Today has been half busy and half relaxed. We woke up early and decided to get out for a good ride and also a long walk. DH made and packed up breakfast for us all and we went to take the horses out, which was lovely. Saw two foxes and what DS thought was a badger, but I'm not sure about that. It was probably a rock.

Then we had breakfast in the stables once we'd settled the horses, just toast we'd wrapped in foil so cold/lukewarm but we like dunking in tea so it was gorgeous. Finished up and went for a walk down through the fields and into the woods, the kids wanted a game of off-ground-tick which was fun! DH's leg was getting pretty bad by about 11.30, so headed home. No one fancied soup or anything hot so we all made our own sandwiches from leftover Christmas cheese and things.

In the afternoon, DH did some crafting and painting with the kids (we got them plain masks for Christmas, so they can decorate them), and I had a lovely bath. We never, ever get takeaway as we like cooking a lot plus 3 out of 4 of us are coeliac. But! I had inspiration from a lovely poster on here, and I've found a really nice Italian a village over that does GF deliveries. So it's going to be pizza, pasta, garlic bread, salad, olives, and other bits for tea. Can't wait!

In the meantime, the kids have demanded to watch the new Wallace & Gromit again, and I'm not complaining. 😁
