Joint children's party - present etiquette

We're attending a 3rd birthday party for 2 children jointly. I'll be bringing a present for the child we know, but should I bring one for the other child too?

I have actually bought one (a set of matchbox cars so nothing big or expensive) but I'm now thinking maybe it's bonkers idea so I shouldn't??

We had a joint party for my child last year and most people who only knew the other child didn't give a present to mine, which was fine (one did though).

Wwyd?

the parents of the little girl you don’t know wouldn’t be offended if they even noticed. But it’s a nice thing to do & you already have the gift..

Had this scenario last year and in the end I didn't take a gift for the other child as I was following your reasoning that if the party was joint for my child I wouldn't expect one for her and therefore was I being a massive people pleaser etc etc (you can see how my mind spirals)

But conversely, you have the gift and it would be very sweet to give it and the parents would probably be delighted so no harm if you want to

I think I would buy a small token present for the other child (the cars sound perfect). Don’t over think it, if it were my joint party I wouldn’t think anything of you if you didn’t give a gift to the unknown child, nor would I think it odd if you did.

I used to give a small.token present for the other child. The cars sound perfect.

We did combined parties for a few years (until the kids started to object at sharing the limelight 😆) with 2 others and not once did anyone bring a present for the two children that weren't their direct invitee, iyswim.

We had a shared venue, entertainment and food, but each child sent their own invitations - & therefore received gifts from only these - so maybe worked it differently to yours?

We had this recently and I decided not to buy the other child we didn’t know a present. There were about 20 children for each child and tbh I didn’t think the parents would want their child getting 40 presents and a token gift would just end up being a waste/present for the sake of it I think tbh! I just bought for my child’s friend.

Went to a joint 3rd birthday party last year. I did buy a small something for the unfamiliar child; something more significant for the child my daughter knows. There were about 40 kids there in total so a lack of gift would not have been noticed.

It's not expected, but I'd bring something small like the cars, it's nice to be nice. We've always known the other child or their parents at least a little though.

I have hosted and been to joint birthday parties. At my daughter's only her invited guests got her presents which I didn't think twice about. The one I went to I gifted to both because we knew them both but if I didn't I would have just bought for the person we invited. At that party I saw many just turn up with 1 gift for the kid that invited them.
