Anyone know if the TV Poirots are appropriate for an 8 year old? I remember loving them at a similar age.

I read most the Agatha Christie books by that age, tv show would be fine.

Oh thanks for that @DogInATent I'd checked on common sense media, but that site seems incredibly conservative.

I loved Poirot at that age. Might actually watch with my 9’year old. He’s obsessed with Casualty and Waterloo Rd

Which is surely more helpful, under the circumstances, than being too liberal? It lets you pick and choose your own level of acceptability.

I get that, but the IMDb page seems more objective to me, so appreciate that thank you!

I would have thought so, engenders a sense of good taste with all the clothing, art deco furnishings, cars, architecture etc

Not just entertainment.

But then I was born 50!

I think it's probably fully PG. I'd be surprised if an 8 year old would find it that interesting, but I could be wrong.

The only ones that might be unsuitable are:

The Spanish Chest as there is a suicide attempt which is shown for a few seconds but more graphically, or "usefully", than others. The woman takes handfuls of pills rather than, e.g. the man in another episode who says rather than acts that he put cyanide in his tea.

The Victory Ball which features cocaine use. No snorting. Cocaine is discussed and powder is very briefly shown. Then again maybe that is a way to introduce the subject of drug education. I remember ours started gently at around age 8 or 9 when police visited the school. To be fair, the sadness and the horror of what I heard certainly stayed with me!

DGS had watched the lot by age 10.

I see no problem with letting an 8 y o watch them.
