Tried and tested methods for thinning hair

Happy new year all!

I'm early 40's and have recently noticed the hair around my hairline is thinning/receding. There's so many shampoo's and serums and likely other meds available I'm wondering if anyone has used anything that has worked? It's still relatively unnoticeable but I'd like to ideally reverse any damage but if that's not possible to stall it somewhat.

I do dye my hair, probably every 2 months or so but not bleach (darker colour) and don't do much styling other than that - doubtful it's heat damage etc

Any tips/recommendations would be gratefully received :)

If cost isn’t that much of an issue then I’d just do PRP or exosome therapy.

Hi

I swear by castor oil mixed with coconut oil and leave it on for a few hours on a Sunday (or whenever you're home).

You'll see results in a few months.

I've been using rosemary oil 4 or 5 times a week for about 6 months and have loads of new growth - i was sceptical but as I have dry hair anyway I thought that at least the oil would provide moisture, which it also has.

I put it on my scalp, massage it in then brush through with a soft bristle brush at bedtime then sleep with my hair in a French plait.

Here's a list of things I've tried that have NOT worked:
Iron supplements (I have low iron)
Vit D supplements (I have low Vit D)
Biotin supplement
I have friends who have tried collagen supplements with no noticeable difference.

Here's a few things that have helped:
Nioxin shampoo - switched to this a few years ago on the advice of my hairdresser and it reduced shedding and encouraged new growth along the hairline
Living proof volume spray and Nioxin volume spray - make my hair feel and look fuller for a few hours. Not improving my hair but makes it look better temporarily.

You don't say how long your hair is but obvs the longer it is, the more the weight will pull it down and appear thinner. Frequent tight pony tails or braids can also encourage a thinner hairline.

Unfortunately its very common for hair to thin with age. There is a huge market in supplements and serums that promise thicker hair.
The reality is a LOT of those 50+ women we see on tv have hair extensions or just genetically thick hair.

I have been taking a supplement called Glowwa for about 18 months, it's definitely helped, there is a lot of new growth, it happened quite quickly. It's fairly expensive, but something I wouldn't stop taking now!

Have a look at the research behind PRP.
