Lasagna, just a Tesco one in the fridge... due date was 30th December? It's okay right?

No

LadyKenya · 01/01/2025 10:12

It should be, considering how processed it is.

LadyKenya · 01/01/2025 10:13

No wonder there is so much food waste, just use your senses.

BrusselSproutsRock · 01/01/2025 10:13

I’d say today is ok as only two days out of date but wouldn’t after that

TotemPolly · 01/01/2025 10:15

Best before or use by ? Personally I have eaten best before quite a few days after as see it as a guide .
Use by , I'm more cautious .

Londonnight · 01/01/2025 10:16

As long as it's been kept in a fridge it will be fine to eat.

TheoTurkey · 01/01/2025 10:16

I’d eat it

maximist · 01/01/2025 10:18

It'll be fine. I've eaten ready meals five days after the date with no ill effects at all.

TriangleLight · 01/01/2025 10:19

Yes. That will be absolutely fine

Boredlass · 01/01/2025 10:19

Yes. Absolutely nothing will happen

JohnTheRevelator · 01/01/2025 16:44

I would,as long as it had been safely stored in the fridge prior to eating.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 01/01/2025 16:45

Completely fine

AfraidToRun · 01/01/2025 16:46

It will be fine, nothing in it is very foodlike anyway. Even if it is delicious!

StMarie4me · 01/01/2025 16:54

I'd eat it

EveryOtherNameTaken · 01/01/2025 17:09

I would.

Eldermillennial2024 · 01/01/2025 17:12

Due date? If you mean "best before" then no

Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 01/01/2025 17:13

A day out of date I would but I also look for swelling of the packaging film if that happens bin it.

murasaki · 01/01/2025 17:20

Agree with this.

polpolpolpol · 01/01/2025 17:21

No, I don't eat anything out of date.

Nourishinghandcream · 01/01/2025 17:22

Probably perfectly fine and I would be not be giving it a second thought.

One thing to consider with anything like this is how long the shelf life is.
If you buy it and the shelf life is a month, several days over is not going to be a problem. If it is a fresh item however and the shelf life is only 2-3 days then that is a different matter as extending it by a similar amount of time could be too much.
At the end of the day, just look & sniff and make up your own mind. As a PP said, there is waayyy too much food waste nowadays because people have forgotten to use common sense.

Meltedwelly · 01/01/2025 17:26

Are you sure it wasnt swapped with a vegan lasagne.

purplecorkheart · 01/01/2025 17:34

As already stated, just check the plastic lid is not blow. If it is, I would get rid. Otherwise, I would eat, but maybe give it an extra minute

Gggglinda · 01/01/2025 17:36

Make sure the lid isn't puffy and smell it first. Should be ok if you cook it to piping hot.

Dutchhouse14 · 01/01/2025 17:40

I would do a visual inspection and a sniff test but yes I think it will be ok

Meltedwelly · 01/01/2025 17:41

Would you suck a fishermans friend?
