New Year Fireworks

OK, straight up admission, I don’t like fireworks much, but realise that one woman against the firework loving millions is not a fair fight so concede defeat. But , really, do NY fireworks need to start at 10.00?

If you aren’t old enough , or are too sleepy, to stay up til midnight then find another way to see in the new year. Maybe sparklers, or left over Christmas crackers.

Happy New Year anyway.

What actually happened to them? The London fireworks were not shown on TV at all! They broadcast last years fireworks instead. Just so bizarre.

There were fireworks at 2 this morning. Woke me up.

What makes you think they broadcast last year's fireworks?

Pretty sure we all watched the fireworks in London on BBC at midnight and there were lots of lights showing 2025 on it?

FloralGums · 01/01/2025 10:55

I think it’s fine any time on NYE, they may be part of an evenings entertainment - not necessarily to mark the dot of midnight, they maybe set off so the kids can see them before going to bed, to avoid a certain time (eg neighbours bedtime), when a party host feels the time is right, anything really.

TwentyTwentyFive · 01/01/2025 11:00

We had fireworks here from about 7pm until at least half 1. It was constant and I've come to the conclusion my neighbours must all be making loads more money than me!

Natsku · 01/01/2025 11:04

Where I am the law says they're allowed between 6pm and 2am, some people start right at 6pm and I assume they have young children who will be going to bed soon so want to give them a chance to see them. We did ours at half 9, neighbours did theirs at 10 so each had a chance to see each other's, and there's one house in the neighbourhood that always does them bang on midnight which is very nice too.
I'm less keen on the ones going on past midnight but I assume its people trying to use up the last of their fireworks and its over by 2 so I can't get worked up about it.

Around my way the fireworks started in October 🙄 I want to send these idiots to the moon with a rocket stuck up their arse on a rocket.

PuppyMonkey · 01/01/2025 11:10

Wait… so the fireworks I watched on BBC1 last night were last year’s. Grin

Mind you, I saw a joke meme saying they’ve been showing the same Hootenanny for the past 30 years and nobody has noticed.

BarbaraHoward · 01/01/2025 11:11

They were at 8pm in my home town. Seems to have been a big hit, and nice for kids to be able to go.
