What will you be eating this eve for dinner?

My daughter wants buffet style nibbles. But after all the crap we’ve eaten recently I’m struggling to know what to get that will be marginally healthy!

Any suggestions?! Thanks!

Probably the Tex-Mex Lasagna I spent yesterday afternoon preparing and assembling.
We don't do anything special or different for NYE.
We're not into socialising or drinking a lot, so for us NYE is just another evening.

There are (more) healthy nibbles out there.
Less fat, and sodium veg based crisps etc...
Pizza with fresh vegetable topping
Nice tasting dips for fresh veggie sticks
Good variety of cheeses
Low-fat sliced deli meats,
Fresh bread/buns,
Fresh fruits
Less calorific cakes and biscuits
Or take the easy route and order Chinese take-away, that's pretty well standard at New Years with most people.

We are have friends over, so I'm making Mac n cheese, pulled pork coleslaw, cookies and a trifle. Friends are bringing cheese, more sweet stuff and veggie options.

We are a bit buffeted out. Need something a bit lighter so l'm going with Thai fishcakes with spicy, broccoli rice noodles and an Asian slaw.

We won't be going out so am doing a chicken casserole. Have eaten far too much unhealthy food over Christmas.

We’re using the last of the party food and cheese, there will be veggie batons for dips. Tomorrow will be steak pie, which is traditional in Scotland and draws a line under “eat, drink and be merry” for the season.

I ended up in sainsbury’s and bought lots of their japanese style gyoza and rice mixes.

Was lovely! And not too greasy.

Always party food/beige buffet here

Paradoes · 31/12/2024 21:56

We had a steak dinner earlier (.nice fillet) so didn’t need party food. I hope you have a nice evening
