I'm just about to take my tablets with my first brew of the day. It's all quiet down here so I'll have ten minutes silence while I drink it then go an get dressed before my Dad gets here.

He's dropping off dd2's birthday card from the weekend. I'll ask while he's here if he'll nip me to Morrisons for kitten food.

When he's gone I plan to tidy the fridge then spend the day crafting. I've got peg people and crochet I want to finish before I buy another project I've seen 🙈

We'll probably have a buffet style tea tonight, and a couple of drinks for me. Doubt I'll be up to see in the New Year though 🤷‍♀️. I'll probably read later on, for an hour or two, before I head to bed 💤

What about all of you? 🎉

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

I've been cleaning and doing laundry since I woke up, house and laundry always go to shit in these days between Xmas and NYE! I like a tidy house New Year's Day as I'm normally a little hungover 😂

We were hosting an NYE party but with various illnesses over Xmas between all the guests, we all decided yesterday that we would cancel. Going to have a get together in Feb, after Jan pay day!!

Out for a meal this evening just dp, dc and I and will open the fizz once back. Have some sparklers for tonight which the kids are excited about.

Happy New Year all!

I’ve got the flu so resting up and probably an early night. We normally get an Indian takeaway but I’ll see what DH wants to do. I had lots of plans for deep cleaning and taking down the decorations but that will all be delayed.

Good morning @lucysmam . I wasn't expecting to see you today!
I woke up yesterday morning with a cold so I took things easy yesterday. Today I feel worse so I will probably stay in bed. The good news is that yesterday was the runny stage and today I have already got to the thick stage so it should go quite quickly. No sore throat and no cough, just a cold.

There's a lot of people on here doing cleaning - is this special New Year Cleaning, or just regular cleaning? I've never done special New Year Cleaning. Perhaps I should, but it's definitely not getting done today.

I haven't even thought about what we're eating tonight. We have a couple of nice Iceland Luxury curries in the freezer, so maybe we'll have them. I won't be cooking anyhow. I'm going to try not to do any online sales shopping today. There's not much we need... although DHs birthday is at the beginning of February and I will be able to get him a bigger present if I get it in the sales....

DilemmaDelilah I’ll probably do some cleaning tomorrow after the tree & other decorations are taken down.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 31/12/2024 12:18

Woke up early, as my body decided it's temp should be somewhere around the temp of the sun so needed to get up and stand in the garden and let the storm cool me down!

Then took my extremely old cat to the vets, and found out he's doing extremely well. Still cried a bit at the bill !

DH is cooking a buffet and I have given the house a clean and done some laundry.

Will spend the afternoon working our way through movies, having a few glasses of wine. Then tonight we'll have some champagne and may or may not stay awake for the bells.

Good afternoon, all! Such a lovely thread.

Today is a busy one, but it's nice busy so I'm happy. We're still in our house in Norway for a few days yet, and we're going to be having a party tonight with the in-laws and friends. DH and I have been up since early to make a slow start on the buffet - nothing wildly fancy today, just nice bits and bobs. The kids are making paper lanterns to decorate.

We've been out for a walk (we're north of Tromsø so it's quite dark and snowy), and now we're home to have a light lunch. DH is whizzing up some soup, and I'm warming my fingers!

Looking forward to tonight. Christmas Day is a quiet one as the main day here is Christmas Eve, so I love the peaceful days afterwards. But it'll be nice to have a little shindig this evening! If there's time, we might do an online escape room before guests arrive. If not, that can be tomorrow's fun.

Hope everyone has a gorgeous day, whatever you're doing! 🥂

It’s a good job I spotted this post as I had not realised it was NYE today! I’ll be on my own which is fine after a very busy Christmas with family staying and will be having Chinese style duck pancakes for my tea. I might then try one of the gin liquors my son bought me for Christmas. I’ll be in bed before midnight but not asleep as I’m a night owl and often awake until the early hours.

I am going to meet friends for lunch tomorrow which is why I’m pleased to be reminded of the date, otherwise I might have forgotten!

Good afternoon!

I'm lounging about for now and have lit a couple of candles as it's just so bloody awful outside. I decided to put on the Alan Partridge podcast and I snorted at one point which blew out one of my candles 😁

This evening, 13 yo DD and I will be having a vegetarian buffet. We are having vegetable curry with pitta bread, rainbow Carrots with Dips, tomato and mozarella arancini, a cheese board then fruit 'kebabs' and macaron.

Last year was the first year DD stayed up so we went outside just before midnight then came back in. This year she wants to take a photo of the cat at exactly midnight. Absolutely no idea why, but okey dokey DD.

Here he is currently being cradled by her like a baby.

Good Morning everyone! What are you all up to this New Year's Eve?
Decafflatteplease · 31/12/2024 12:35

Morning well afternoon @lucysmam and all!

DH has nipped out with some of the DC to run a few errands, other DC are just pottering around. Im also pottering about, folding laundry, putting more on just peaceful little jobs in a semi quiet house.

Later on we are going bowling then home for games night and takeaway. Will do a couple of little games with the little ones but they'll be asleep by 8ish and then we will have more games with the teens. Will see in midnight, pop in to th garden then back in again as is tradition then off to bed!

honeylulu · 31/12/2024 12:36

I'm doing a home workout then taking a walk into town with youngest (10) to go to the free Museum as they are running some festive events. Later cooking fajitas and playing board games until the "big kids" (son and girlfriend who is staying) head out clubbing. Will probably stay up to midnight having some champers with husband in front of the TV but head to bed soon after.

Going to a National Trust property tomorrow morning for a change of scene and walk in the fresh air, after a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel breakfast.

Am supposed to be doing my tax return but might wait until the weekend once I've started Dry Jan!

AdoraBell · 31/12/2024 12:39

Up early to get DD2 to work, back home and laundry/hoovering then going out for tyres. Need to sort through the freezer, lovely neighbours gave us a freezer they don’t need, they only had it for 6 months.

LittleMissFuckUp · 31/12/2024 13:41

Woke up ridiculously early thinking we were getting the Ferry home today 😂 obviously it was cancelled and the next one is allegedly tomorrow but I'm not hopeful. So my lovely day of travelling home, dropping the kids with their Dad and then a cheeseboard in front of a film has gone to shit.

Instead I've taken my smallest and nephew to soft play and am contemplating stopping and getting some party nibbles for tea tonight.

Hope everyone else's day actually plans out well.

@gingercat02 @Zippedydodah they're f2 savannahs. Only babies, but they've spent the first year of their lives in a top floor flat. They're stunning but don't really know how to be cats! Hopefully that will change now they're with me!
