Wine glasses - short stemmed yet elegant

Do such wine glasses exist?

I love the light, clear look of our current glasses, but would like something that was more stable, less easy to knock over or to catch the base on. And easier to fit into the dishwasher.

I have some beautiful short stemmed wine glasses but they are antique and I definitely wouldn't put them in the dishwasher so no good to you. I also have some 1960s Swedish no stemmed wine glasses that are very stylish.

If you can't find anything by trawling the internet my suggestion is to cast your net wider and see if there is anything second hand which suits you.

We use stemless wine glasses for exactly that reason. I now prefer them.

Easy to find. Pro Cook, LSA and Mary Berry and even Dunelm do short stemmed ones. Harts of Stur have some too.

So far I've only found stocky-looking glasses that look like they were chosen for restaurant robustness, not graceful elegance.

Not keen on stemless glasses. Might just as well use our water tumblers. I love to twiddle the stem and see the wine twinkling as it turns.

You are unlikely to get a short thin stem unless you go for the old pub style glasses at 50p each. We have a set of shorter stem glasses which are chunky and they look great. Mine are Villeroy and Boch, They are lovely.
