Which bedroom?

Sorry, bit boring, but just planning! Which of these scenarios would you pick for imminent baby’s bedroom? Aware they don’t go in until 6 months but still needs to be sorted prior.

A: box room currently used as a study but for WFH 1 day a week. Usual archaeological layers of crap would need to be cleared and would need to be redecorated. Presumably bedroom size fine until toddlerhood but after that I think nicer to have more space for their toys etc.

B: decent-sized double room. Would mean losing a guest room, but we have another with en-suite. Adjoins neighbours so potentially antisocial to shove a baby in there.

If we choose A, study will need to be resited to a spare room (probably room B). And then switched back in a few years when DC is bigger. But it would mean we keep a functional guest room a bit longer. Choosing B would mean everything stays largely as it is but we’d lose a guest room immediately.

Sorry, dull dull dull. I’m just going round in circles!

Why do you need multiple guest rooms

FionnulaTheCooler · 29/12/2024 19:28

B. Makes sense to use the bigger room right away than have to swap it later anyway, especially as you have another guest room.

Because we have people to stay pretty frequently! I mean it’s obviously fine to lose one but it makes life easier to have them too. But that’s largely why I’m having trouble deciding - we do use both regularly.

We put ds in my old study, and now have a combined guest room/study but we don't have a 4th bedroom. If we did I would've kept my study, kept one guest room and given ds the other double

FrogOnAYuleLog · 29/12/2024 19:29

Would and did pick B. Don’t know why you wouldn’t, particularly as you will still have one double room left free for guests.

I should have said I have a preference and DP has a preference and they are not aligning 😂 So I welcome all opinions

Get a sofa bed? Just an idea

I was leaning towards A but I have ended up (unexpectedly) doing a lot of cosleepong with my 11 month old and it's been really handy to have a bed in the room where DC cot is.

I totally understand the appeal of having >1 guest room (weird question!?).
