If you're slim, what's your lifestyle/ eating habits like?

I'm a size 16 which is slightly on the plump side as I'm quite short. I'd love to trim down to about a size 10 so that I'm not crossing my arms or wearing baggy clothing to cover my belly.

If you're slim or have lost weight what is your secret? Do you eat takeout very rarely? Do you walk a lot? Do you make home cooked meals?

I just feel I can't seem to stick to any long term goal. I'm 43 and probably peri which is probably why I've put on weight.

Can we have a little discussion on what the key is for slim living please 🙏

This is very true. However, overweight people prefer the narrative that slim people just naturally find it easy to be slim, while they are the victim of some awful disease which causes them to gain weight. It’s a way of avoiding personal responsibility for weight gain, and a very unhealthy mindset imo.

This is true. Those in my office who complain about being unable to lose weight and how they NEED wli, buy fizzy drinks in 18 packs, have drawers full of haribo and love their 3pm yumyums.

Why do people eat such rubbish? It's not safe.

@thefedupmummyofgoats it does sound like you are drinking a fair amount of calories.... Costa coffee etc.

I put on a stone when I started having to drive between schools for work, I realised I was eating in the car, mindless munchies or on sugar lows because I wasn't having lunch. I instituted a not eating in the car rule for myself - and lost a stone. Maybe you could do something similar with the Costas? Go for a walk instead?? while you are waiting.

Also eating more protein helped me stop with the snacking so much.

It's not easy - I'm not one of those people who 'forget' to eat lunch - or only have a snack or crackers. But I think I probably need to be....

Soup a couple of days a week for dinner/tea wouldn't do me any harm at all...

No breakfast, small lunch (today it was 2 rice cakes with tuna, if I go to the office it’s often a Pret soup or an Itsu small dish), dinner - which is mostly protein plus veg. No snacking.

I eat more at weekends but I don’t have a big appetite, so that definitely helps.

I go to the gym about 5x a week.

I have a diet that’s largely seasonal, and that is higher in fats and proteins rather than carbohydrates. Carbs and starches aren’t necessary with every meal. This wasn’t a deliberate choice, but what was/is culturally normal for me.

I don’t have a sweet tooth, so things like cake and ice cream aren’t something I think of as a treat, or something that I’m denying myself of. I don’t get ‘food noise’. If I’m hungry I will eat, but food doesn’t take up headspace otherwise.
