Anyone using xylitol for it's dental properties?

I recently started a thread on my ongoing dental issues, mainly around gum health.
I have a successful and well established cleaning routine and my gum disease is thankfully stable.
I received a number of messages on how using xylitol is potentially a game changer, in assisting a dental regime.

I bought a bag of xylitol last weekend in H&B (in granular form,) but having been on other dental forums there's really conflicting advice on how to use it.
Some say to dissolve it in warm water and swish it around your mouth.
Others say to swish a spoonful of it around your mouth without dissolving it in water and let it dissolve and do it's work.

Anyone on here using it and how are you using it?
Thanks for any input.

This is why I'm interested.

There's an awful lot of information on the internet about xylitol, but I'm more interested in people who've been using it.

I was watching your other thread (I think) have you asked the posters on the other thread how they use it?

My Rheumatologist told me to use chewing gum with xylitol in it to help with dental/saliva problems, I didnt realise you could bulk buy. Could this be an option for you?

EDIT - look up scandinavian countries, preschool and primary children dental care. They are all offered a form of chewing gum with it in.

I'm making up a glass of xylitol in water every day, swilling it around my mouth whenever I go to the bathroom. It seems to be working as well as Listerine Advanced Defence, with the added benefits of fluoride-like protection. And it tastes nicer.

Like you, I checked out what the internet had to say. From the sound of things, my periodontitis is even worse than yours: if something doesn't work, I quickly know about it. Seems to be going okay so far, though I'll continue to use other products as well because each antiseptic targets different bacteria.

I had my four monthly appointment with my hygienist on Dec 16th & for the first time in ages, nothing new was added to my routine & I left feeling pretty satisfied.
I don't want to cut corners, but I'm intrigued by this while xylitol thing for use during the day.
Thanks for your reply.
