Why do people post on community groups with unrealistic requests?

I’m on the facebook group for my very sought after complex/development in London.

People seem to post completely unrealistic requests, things like:

Cleaner for 3 bed flat wanted, 2hrs a week, £10 an hour.

or people looking to move here

Professional couple looking for 2 bed flat with terrace budget £1,900 a month. When a flat like that would be £2,800+ more like £3,000 a month.

Probably people post on loads of local FB pages looking for a rental & haven't particularly looked into yours - just posting to lots of different ones?
Some people massively unrealistic about what they should be paying.
Some people hugely overvaluing their own time / skill / second hand items.
Some hoping for a bargain / ripping someone desperate off.

@Paroet I saw one ad on facebook. someone looking for a free tv but it needed to be delivered because she couldnt drive and they had to hang it on the wall for her too!

I'm amazed at some of the posts on our community page.
Eg
Is anyone gifting a Fridge freezer? Must be american style in as-new condition, must be Bosch, must be black, must be able to deliver.

At least they are saying what they can afford…The ones that drive me to distraction are the ones that say “I’m looking for…a hairdresser that can do a perm (or whatever) not silly money/reasonable price”.

How are you supposed to know what they consider reasonable / expensive?

Different scenario, but the community group I’m a member of is for our small town. It was set up at the start of lockdown by a lovely lady who genuinely wanted to help with shopping, collecting prescriptions etc for those who were vulnerable and then it was used for people to donate items (food, clothes) to people struggling with the loss of income at that time. Nowadays, it’s still more people offering items to people in need.

The things people ask for never ceases to amaze me. “Anyone got a washing machine, mine’s just broken & I’ve got a baby” usually followed by a kind person offering their old one only to be rejected with “I need a black Hotpoint one to match my kitchen” type comment. Crazy entitlement.
