Underarm staining on bras

Boring topic, but I'm struggling to get my bras properly clean.
I use a stick deodorant (one of the few I am not allergic to) and it leaves deposits on my bras, a big circular patch of discoloured area. I wash my bras on 30 degrees sometimes 40, non bio liquid.
Where am I going wrong? Do I need a pre-soak of some kind or use bio powder? I can't wash them at higher temperature.
Non judgemental advice needed please, so that I can wear my bras with sleeveless tops without yucky underarm areas

When I was used a stick deodorant all the underarms of my clothes had white or discoloured stains and it really showed because I mostly wear black. I ended up getting a specific thing that removed the build up called deo go think. It worked for the most part but there were a couple of tops I had to throw.
I eventually just stopped using the sticks and went back to roll on or spray but they are less effective for me, thanks menopause! That’s probably not helpful to you though.

there is also Dr. Beckmann Deo & Sweat Stain Remover but I haven’t used it.

I have used the Dr Beckmann spray mentioned by PP, I've also used (as a pre-wash treatment) diluted white vinegar, or a paste of bicarbonate of soda. Vinegar especially you'd need to check it doesn't damage the bra fabric

This is a bit of a wild card, but do you smoke?
I believe nicotine can be in your sweat and discolour clothing.
If the stains are brown/discoloured could that be it?

I have the same issue. I use Mitchum stick and it's brilliant so I'm loath to change deodorant. The roll on makes me itch and I hate sprays. But I'm annoyed some of my bras now look disgusting.

I will try the Dr Beckmann!

Thanks all. I do have some of the Dr Beckman deo gone I think it's called. I've used it once before and it did remove the stains but left dark marks all over my stainless steel sink! It's potent stuff.
So was hoping for some other ideas. Will try bicarb and vinegar, if that doesn't work then back to the Dr Beckmans.

get A cheap plastic washing up bowl for that purpose.

the one I used didn’t damage sink so may be gentler?

I had this when I used Wild deodorant. I've now switched to one called Make Waves (I was sensitive to the wild formula) and no longer have that problem. And the soreness has stopped too which is great!

fivebyfivebuffy · 28/12/2024 18:52

I've used washing up liquid before which has worked, just neat on the armpit area and rubbed in well before washing

Thanks for the suggestions
