Where to go in Wales for holiday

Hello,

I posted on here a while back about a Scottish holiday, and we got some recommendations, and based on those we went and had a marvellous time!

So I’m back looking for recommendations for places to go in Wales for a holiday.

We love a good museum, love going on walks, love a bit of history as well.

thanks in advance

New Quay is lovely. Tenby too.

The Gower is stunning. Not too far from Cardiff for a history fix either. Also, there's a great place near Cardiff called, St Fagan's national museum of history.

Anglesey. Lovely beaches, interesting history (Beaumaris castle, copper mines), great walks, nice restaurants (OysterCatcherc Dylan’s, Lobster Pot).

I second Anglesey. So much to see and do

I love Narbeth. Such a good base for south west Wales.

Visit Wales website has some good ideas on things to do/see.

Ahhhhhh

I am half Welsh and as a child we would go to Wales often – then as an adult with the kids too. Love Wales.

So - first thought is Pembrokeshire as others say – Tenby was our go-to for bucket and spade for years. It’s busier now but still easy to find a big beach with space for cricket. Lovely walks. Super scenery. Not so much with the museums tho but some nice castles about (Manorbier and Pembroke). Plus the point where Henry VII landed to claim the crown. Tenby town is great esp if you want to leave the car in the car park, or there are lovely villages all over.

Also super - Llyn peninsula which can also include lots of historic castles and even Yr Wyddfa or Anglesey – we stayed near Carnearfon and visited all three. On Anglesey itself is also lovely with Beaumaris Castle.

The Gower is very scenic and the beaches are gorgeous too. IMHO not quite as much to do as Pembs and Llyn tho. But yy not too far from Cardiff for some civilisation after all.
