Wanting to move closer to family but wondering how logistics work?

Due to parents ill health, I really want to move closer to them. I'm currently 3 and a bit hours from them. There's a city an hour away from where we are now which would mean we'd be just over 2 hours from my parents and just under 1 hour from DP's family. I'd love to live in this city as I really like the area and it's close enough to my parents that I can easily get there on a Friday after work and stay the whole weekend. At the moment 3 and a bit hours just feels too far whereas 2 hours feels far more manageable. We currently only have 1 car but that's something we can maybe factor into the budget to try and get a second one if needed for work.

Jobs come up infrequently as both DP and I work in quite niche areas so we're just trying to figure out logistics. We were also planning on TTC next year but obviously that increases the complexity of any moves. We don't want to delay TTC indefinitely due to our age but how on earth do people manage the logistics of either

  1. finding two jobs and a (rental) house at the same time Or 2) finding two jobs, a rental property and adequate childcare?

Due to the current maternity package I'm entitled to I'm wondering if it's easier to maybe give it 6 months or so of TTC, hopefully have baby, maternity leave and then look at moving so that I've had the enhanced maternity pay but then obviously we'd need to find childcare when we move too. We're tied into our current rental for the next 9 months anyway so thinking TTC might be better first.

How have other people managed house moves that require jobs and possibly childcare?

I'd TTC now, hope it happened quickly then move while you're on mat leave then find a new job when ready to return to work & nursery sorted.

If it takes more than 6 months then move anyway and get a new job until you become pg.

Check if you have to pay back any enhanced maternity pay if you don't go back to work for your current employer.
