Birmingham premier Inns

We are going up to an event in the Utility arena. I wanted to stay in the hotel in the canal, but it's fully booked. I'm getting in a kerfuffle now as I've spent so long looking at them all, but which one is out next best option please? We'll have small DC so as short a walk as possible to the main attractions would be great. Thanks for any help.

Which have you been looking at? There is another on broad st which is by utilita. There is also a leonardo hotel close by.

@Norma27 I was looking at Bridge street. I'll have a look at the Leonardo now, we just tend to book Premier Inn as you know what you're getting.

There are a couple of other premier inns in city centre too and all would be a short walk to utilita. Hope you find something.

The leonardo is lovely and there's also a decent holiday inn not too far a walk away.

I’ve stayed in Bridge Street, Waterloo Street & New Street. I actually think Bridge Street has the more awkward walking route though it is a shorter distance.

Waterloo Street would be my next choice. When we went to see Elton John almost the entire hotel was people watching that concert!

We stayed in New Street a lot when dd used to do ballet workshops at BRB. The homeless people outside on the walkway put some people off but we never found it an issue.

Just a heads up. We stay in Premier Inns a lot and when looking at different areas for our next break, we've noticed that the majority no longer offer free parking. This is a recent change as it includes all the Premier Inns we used last year. They seem to have passed car parking over to private companies, not even doing it themselves. Going forward the added charges will definitely influence our decisions about where to stay when we are travelling around.
Can't help with Birmingham PI's as when we were up that way last year we stayed in the Redditch PI and travelled the short distance to the NEC from there.

There's a Travelodge on broad street which is closer to the utilita and usually cheaper than the local premier inns. No restaurant but plenty really local including a spoons about 5 minutes away.

We stay there loads. It's comparable to a premier inn in my opinion as we stay in whichever is cheapest at time of booking. Looks tired from the outside but the rooms have been fine and staff are friendly

Thank you all very much, lots of researching to do now, I'm sure I'll get something grand from your recommendations.

Have a look at the Ibis Styles on Lionel street. Not too far from the Arena and much nicer than the Premier Inns imo.
