What leftover Christmas food and drinks do you have?

Adult children have departed and I am appraising the food and drink flotsam from Christmas.
As always I overestimated the amount of soft drinks so have various bottles of sorts. Will go in the cupboard for later use.
Other than that, have half a bottle of baileys, various crisps and nuts, two boxes of chocolates, loads of fudge, a load of croissants in the freezer, half a block of stilton and some turkey left.
Will eat through the fresh leftovers in the next couple of days, and excess chocolate will be taken in to work I think.

I am immensely pleased with myself because i have just used up the last of the chicken to make creamy chicken crepes.

I have left some salami, and alot of brussel sprouts and 3 tins of smoked oysters.

LaPalmaLlama · 27/12/2024 14:59

Not much at all- bit of ham and turkey that we’ll use up in the next few days and some cheese and odds and ends of desserts. Feeling confident that I can get it all gone by 30th. Actually have a lot of alcohol left - we failed to commit on that, clearly.

GameOfJones · 27/12/2024 15:02

Loads! I always seem to over cater as I'd rather have too much for guests than run out of things.

The vast majority of the gammon is gone....just enough for a couple of sandwiches left so that will disappear today or tomorrow.

A full packet of pigs in blankets has been put in the freezer. I think we will eat those for breakfast in baguettes on New Year's Day.

I have lots of roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips left over plus stilton and a wedge of brie. I'll probably make those into some form of pie with a white cheese sauce.

Two Christmas puddings that everyone was too full to eat plus some custard. I think we'll eat one then keep the second one for next year.

Absolutely loads of chocolate and booze because we bought plenty and then guests all seemed to bring chocolates, prosecco or wine as gifts. That will all get used byt it may take a while!

Nothing goes to waste but I really need to make a note of what went and what didn't get eaten so I can plan better next year.

Christmas isn't over yet! At least not for us, we're hosting various people over the next few days - culminating in about 25 for NYE. So we've got loads of beige buffet bits, half a giant ham, gingerbread and Christmas cake, about 50 pigs in blankets in the freezer for emergency use. I might make a trifle with the gingerbread to have as pudding for NYE.

There's loads and loads of cheese, including a vacherin which I have ear marked for myself when I get a few hours to myself. I may eat it in the bath as I read the private eye annual.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/12/2024 15:15

some turkey which will go in a curry tonight. Bit of smoked salmon and cheese and crackers. Pate is as yet unopened. A few sprouts, carrots, parsnips which I'll make soup with tomorrow. Loads of wine which we have consumed less of than normal as my menopausal body just doesn't fancy it the same anymore. I can have one glass and be done.

Just having a piece of Yule log and there are a couple of M&S pine cones left which the student kids will finish after their lunch or whagever meal they wanna call it. They only got up at 1pm.

zingally · 27/12/2024 15:17

About 4 mince pies, a single chicken leg and a tiny bit of breast, a little bit of smoked salmon, a tub and a half of pate and about 6 pigs in blankets. Oh and quite a bit of fruit.
There's also about a third of a chocolate roulade. It was from the "Cook" brand of frozen stuff, and was really expensive, but isn't anything that special. Wouldn't buy again.

Loads of chocolate left, but that'll last months. 3 J2Os left, but someone will finish them off over the next few days. No booze as none of us are big drinkers. We shared a single bottle of wine over Christmas day and Boxing day, and that was it. And that was a bottle we already had in the house.

TooMuchDontCare · 27/12/2024 15:53

ueberlin2030 · 27/12/2024 15:57

Cooked meat - which DH and DS will eat in sandwiches etc.
Raw chipolatas - which I'll cook and DH and DS will have with tonight's HM wedges and fritatta.
Veggies - not leftover as such, just enough for some more meals/soup.
Mascarpone - will become a cheesecake.
Nice drinks - we'll have at new year dinner.

endsnewyearsday · 27/12/2024 16:38

Some Turkey and ham that's going in a pie for dinner tonight.

Lots of cheeses, part baked baguettes and some crisps. A tin of biscuits. Quite a few bottles of Prosecco. A few sausage rolls and pork pies.

I need a recipe that uses Wensleydale with apricots 😂

Falafelolive · 27/12/2024 21:22

I've just remembered I've got a net of lemons which I haven't used at all..what can I do with them? Any ideas to use them up which does not involve sugar? Have had too much sugary food in the last few days

Hskatkat · 27/12/2024 21:23

@Falafelolive preserved lemons .... So useful in loads of dishes

Falafelolive · 27/12/2024 21:40

Preserved lemons... interesting! I'm going to look in to that, nice idea

None! Going on holiday tomorrow so trying to have an empty fridge

Hskatkat · 27/12/2024 21:41

They are "punchy" in flavour :)
Work well in salads couscous fish etc

Delphigirl · 27/12/2024 21:45

Mince pies - bought 3 boxes for 11 people and 2 pies were eaten
pigs in blankets - two packs left
parsnips - nobody really likes them except dh
brandy butter, brandy cream, double cream, custard… too many almost untouched dairy products.

otherwise I did pretty well I think

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/12/2024 21:47

3/4 bottle dissarano velvet liqueur, half litre Baileys, loads of cheese and sweets and chocolate

pizzaHeart · 27/12/2024 21:48

Things moved a bit since my post at 13.28, happy to report that we don’t have mince pies and cream any more and only 1/3 bottle of wine. There are still cheeses, melon and grapes, I also found forgotten cranberries and 2 tangerines, will do cranberry sauce later.

Zamazenta · 27/12/2024 21:54

Not much tbh as we didn't go overboard and had friends round last night who helped deal with leftovers.

There's some puff pastry in the fridge , cauliflower cheese, and carrot and sweet crush in the freezer with pigs in blankets.

2 chocolate Santas and a handful of quality street (that none of us like) n a dish on the coffee table

MymateDave · 27/12/2024 21:57

Just sliced all the left over Turkey and gammon and froze it
1 box of mince pies
3 different cheeses
God knows how many packs of crackers
2 pots of Pringles
1 crate of Stella
1 tub of different picky bits in the fridge
1 pack of cheese topped rolls

I took a gammon, cheese and rolls parcel to my friends earlier as we had far to much

Definitely cutting down next year

DerangedViper · 27/12/2024 21:57

I have quite a lot of cream, creme fraiche and sour cream; and I really don't know what I'll do about that!

Also lemons and limes, the standard cheese mountain, and a lot of weird crisps

Oldraver · 27/12/2024 22:02

Had a slice of stuffed duck (amazing out of the air fryer) and frozen three more and the legs. Ate the last if the piggies earlier

Gliblet · 27/12/2024 22:02

Technically? Just Christmas cake, a tube of pringles, and some shortbread. We were at my parents' this year. So... On Boxing Day I went for a fossick around in Sainsbury's and came home with two £1.24 yellow-stickered turkey breasts wrapped in bacon, two packs of pigs in blankets, a bag of 8p potatoes, some stuffing, gravy, bread, and a jar of mango chutney to manufacture leftovers out of 😁

Hskatkat · 27/12/2024 22:04

I'm taking the boxes of biscuits we were given (completely sealed) to the charity shop when I take my next donation, they always seem happy to share with the volunteers

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/12/2024 22:06

Absolutely tons of cheese - I have had a terrible cold (poss Covid as lost taste/smell) and it’s all been a bit of a bust. We used the last of the turkey for sandwiches today, and the cheese will do Hogmanay. Loads of crisps/chocolate etc, and a Christmas pudding.

Hskatkat · 27/12/2024 22:07

You can freeze some cheese & dairy products worth s Google for those with loads left
