Do you use airfryer liners?

I recently bought an air fryer and did the Christmas roast potatoes in it. I used a liner, but of course the airfryer drawers got messed up anyway. And then I had the reusable liners to wash as well as the drawers.
I must be missing something here. Is it just me or are the liners completely pointless? The fact they have holes just means that the fat drips through anyway.
Happy to stand corrected and thanks in advance!

i use fat trapper pads ( home bargains £2.99 for 10). they catch all drips and i just hrow them away after a couple of uses. They are on amazon and ebay too

Silicon liner then put in dishwasher.

QueenofallIsee · 27/12/2024 12:01

No, I just clean the drawers after every use. It doesnt take long at all and I found the liners added to the cooking time.

SirChenjins · 27/12/2024 12:02

I just put some tin foil or baking parchment in and then put the food to be cooked on top

I have a ninja air fryer and it's so simple to clean afterwards so I don't bother with liners

I just soak it in soapy water and rinse after each use which takes seconds

Like rinsing a plate before putting it in a dishwasher

SoupDragon · 27/12/2024 12:03

I use snug fitting silicone liners and the drawers don't get messed up.

Unfortunaltey the only snug fitting ones I've found came from the Aldi Aisle of
Randomness so they aren't easy to come by!

Imho liners prevent an air fryer from working at its best

And I'm certainly not wasting money on disposable liners or foil when I can just wash it

JMSA · 27/12/2024 12:09

Thanks everyone. I'm going to ditch the liners. And I thought that silicone might defeat the object, as surely the air can't fully circulate.
But hey, I'm a newbie, so what do I know?!

If I’m cooking something with fat in, like sausages, bacon or chips, i put a piece of kitchen roll under the trivet. It soaks up all the fat and can be binned thus stopping fat going down the plug hole, also makes for quicker washing up of the drawer. I was my drawers after every use - a quick soak in hot soapy water always does the trick.

SoupDragon · 27/12/2024 12:27

Mine fit snug to the sides of the drawer. I don't see how that can possibly block any air flow.

Hoppinggreen · 27/12/2024 12:33

I find the silicone ones make everything taste funny.
I put foil in the bottom under and then a sort of grill thingy that came with it, it gets cleaned very regularly

This is a good idea but I'd be worried about the kitchen roll setting on fire. Clearly it's not an issue though as you are here to share the top tip 😁

No fire hazard for you @Soontobe60 ? I'd be worried about that with kitchen paper

Don't you have a crisper tray then ?

Most have a crisper tray so food goes on that leaving a couple of inches below to cook under your food

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/12/2024 13:54

I use greaseproof paper cake tin liners.
