TUI heated pools turn off date

Bit of a niche question but does anyone know if companies like TUI really turn off the heating in their pools (in Tenerife for example) on exactly April 30th like it says on their site? Like if that is half way through a week would they really turn it off mid week? TIA!

Eh? Tui are a travel broker, they don't own/run the resorts. You'll need to contact the hotel themselves.

Tui do actually have their own hotels. It's not quite ownership but rather rent out whole properties.

And it really doesn't matter if it's a Wednesday or a Saturday the heating turns off. The pool doesn't suddenly drop 5° overnight!

Places like Tenerife will have been warm and sunny in general for a few months by this point and so a heated pool will hold its temperature.

IME (lived and worked in Tenerife for a long time) the heating is slowly decreased from beginning of March when temps become more stable and slowly increased in October as they become less stable.

They aren't heated May - November officially in general.

"Tui do actually have their own hotels. It's not quite ownership but rather rent out whole properties."

And I bet if you tried to contact "Tui" about this they'd tell you to go to the hotel directly as there will not be a "Tui" policy!

It’s on the website under the hotel description if they have heated pools year round.

They are still cold outside of the main season, even if they are ‘heated’

Pineapplewaves · 27/12/2024 09:26

Pools are usually heated around 1 November to 31 March. Depending on the weather they might keep them heated for longer or turn it off earlier. Where a hotel has several pools it's usually only one that's heated. Indoor pools are usually heated all year but have restrictions on when children can use them.

The best thing to do is email your chosen hotel directly for confirmation.

I know how it works.

It won't be a Tui policy but of Tui are "renting" a whole property for the Tui brand which is decorated in Tui colours then the hotel management and Tui will agree the policies and Tui will print it in the brochure - such as dates pools are heated etc.

Also if you have an issue about the hotel you will speak to Tui reps.

It's not a simple thing but if your book through Tui your contract is with Tui.

So this very much depends on the property but if you have questions about a hotel the agent should be finding out the answers for you and they will add the detail to your booking if you have booked.

OP what's your concern about them turning the heating off mid week as opposed to a weekend? If it's you're thinking of travelling east her side of this date and imagining the pool temp dipping halfway through I can reassure you it doesn't work like that. And the water lays feels colder height of summer anyway because the air temp is warmer and so your skin is hotter.

Thank you everyone and sorry for my ignorance of how this works.

We want to go on holiday then but my son really feels the cold and always struggles with outdoor pools. I was thinking if they're not heated they may be too cold for him. It sounds as if they might be even if they are heated?

We booked Egypt and the pool heating was turned off 30th April, we stayed from the 27th ... pool was fabulous for the first 2 days, turned the heating off and it was absolutely freezing it was awful, pools do loose heat really quickly when the heating is turned off.

How often does it work like that though? We've been on a couple of Jet2holidays packages and there's always been an area in the hotel where the package holiday stands are and there's always been quite a few different brands, including Tui as well as Jet2holidays, so people have booked the hotel via using a variety of operators. It's also been the case that if the hotel has a few pools, some are heated (usually including the children's pool) and some are not.

OP if you look in the small print on the Tui website, it probably tells you to contact the hotel. But if your DS feels the cold, would a rash suit or thin shorty wetsuit help?

Oh gosh really! That's what I'm afraid of.

Yes @Bjorkdidit we can try the wetsuit again although sometimes it somehow seems to make it worse. I think we would try it tho
