Amazon return says no need to need to box my item?

Returning a few toys from Amazon as kids received duplicates. I don’t think I’ve ever done a return to Amazon before from memory but it says I don’t need to parcel or box up my item, just return to Evri drop off.
is that correct? Surely I can’t just drop off random toys with no labels or boxes? Obviously they are still packaged in their own packaging as they are unopened but do I really just drop them off as they are?

The drop off place often have jiffy bags or will stick a label on a boxed item but one they prefer packaged returns.

DragonFly98 · 26/12/2024 23:50

Amazon say that but evri are not thrilled when you turn up with unboxed items

And will I have to buy them or do they give them out?
if they would rather them packaged up I can do that at home but it just surprised me to read that there was no need to box them up

Yes that's totally fine as long as you have a QR code which needs to be scanned by EVRI when you drop it off

schoolmum11 · 26/12/2024 23:58

The shop will provide the bag

Owmyelbow · 26/12/2024 23:59

My evri shop wants them in a box or bag whatever Amazon says

GreyBlackBay · 27/12/2024 00:00

If you click for more options there will be a provide your own box option. I prefer that to save time but our post office has no issue boxing up and there's no charge.

I needed to return something before Christmas and I selected 'doorstep pickup' from Royal Mail.

The guy had the label ready in his hand and I just wrapped it in a small, strong bag.

Windmill34 · 27/12/2024 00:01

I e taken loads of things just in plastic bags not in an original package. Post office have a big sack they put them all in as do the smaller corner shops.
There nit bothered as Amazon don’t resale the item, what they do is sell boxes/crates/bags of returned things through a site or auction house
That why there not bothered

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/12/2024 00:18

same and I've also had two returns now where the seller sent a replacement and the original wasn't wanted. I think it's cheaper for them.

DooDooDooDooDooDooDooDoo · 27/12/2024 00:18

I put something back in the amazon box once when it said there was 'no need' to and at the post office I had to take it out so he could put it in one of the Amazon bags.

Same here, I was told at the post office not to re-package it, they do it. I always wonder what if it was something embarrassing, massive dildo etc....(which mine was not should I add! 🤣)

Hmmm, didn't know you could buy those on Amazon. 😂

Redglitter · 27/12/2024 05:14

The no wrapping system is great. They just scan the QR code you have and put the item in a bag. If it says don't package it then don't. My Mum did with one of my returns and they wouldn't accept it. She had to open it up and just give them the item.

temperance81 · 27/12/2024 05:30

@Mumtobabyhavoc yes they do! How do I know? I had a pile of Amazon boxes delivered a month before Christmas- took them in, hid them away without opening the boxes. Christmas Eve I opened the box to find a female pleasure toy, checked the address, and the parcel was for my neighbour! And no I haven't taken it around- I'm too embarrassed!

You can get anything on Amazon.🤣🤣🤣

Wishiwasatailor · 27/12/2024 05:48

I did this recently at the post office. They told me that they get 6x more for packaging it themselves and you get the refund quicker because they confirm the return has been made. They package and label it up for you and it's free and they get more money for it so win win

This option wasn’t there at all when I requested a return yesterday.

I still put mine in something op as I use our local garage drop off point. The return bin is nowhere near the counter and there aren’t any bags/boxes there to attach the label to when you print it out on the machine.

So, you've decided to keep it for yourself then? 😉

Or, take it around and very cheerily say, Sorry, your dildo was delivered to me by mistake. 😀😀😀

TheSeagullsSquawk · 27/12/2024 08:11

Yes it's a newish system where Amazon gives the post office shops bags with barcodes. But in my experience not every one who works in shop will know about it and you can be left in situation where they expect you to buy an envelope there and then. Happened to me - saw it happen to random person last week - different shops/post office. They will look at you like you are mad if you say it doesn't need packaging. So i'd wrap in something that a label can be stuck on. (I usually use a plastic bag from previous delivery turned inside out). And take that til you know you can rely on new system.

ApparentlyRockBottomHasABasement · 27/12/2024 12:40

I just took mine to the collection point, definitely no packaging there, and the collection bin was full of stuff with all sorts of packaging so everyone is still wrapping their own.

MargaretThursday · 27/12/2024 12:47

I had that for a cup which arrived with a chip in it.
The packaging the place put on, I reckoned it would arrive in pieces.
Their issue.
