Cost to have duvet cleaned

Does anyone know how much Johnson’s charge to clean a king sized duvet? Have searched on line but can’t find a price list!!

Usually cheaper to buy a new duvet IME.

biscuitsandbooks · 26/12/2024 13:09

My experience is that it's cheaper to chuck it out and replace it.

way2serious · 26/12/2024 13:09

Yes that was what I was thinking especially as it is sale time!

Do you mean washed or dry cleaned? If washed a service launderette would be cheaper than Johnson's but some duvets don't wash well and go lumpy

Neveranynamesleft · 26/12/2024 13:17

I have washed one at the launderette in a big machine and it came out fine. I think it was only around a fiver and I dried it at home over a couple of kitchen chairs. Check the label for washing instructions.

AtmosAtmos · 26/12/2024 13:22

if you can wash rather than buy new try that. If dry clean then yes may be cheaper buying new. Depending on the reason it needs cleaning and material some animal shelters find duvets helpful but I’m not sure about that size. I’m not sure whether you can recycle duvets - maybe depending on in where you live.

princessjazmine · 26/12/2024 13:27

I took my expensive goose down SK duvet to the local laundrette last week & picked it up on Christmas eve, £28.00! Much cheaper to get mine cleaned!

LuckysDadsHat · 26/12/2024 13:33

Go to the launderette. On the south coast it costs £14 to wash and dry in the machines. Takes about 1 hour 45 minutes. I take a book and chill out.

FeegleFrenzy · 26/12/2024 13:34

£12 wash and dry in the launderette.

I’m really hoping I’m not the only one whose first thought on reading this was but “we don’t do duvets”

How do you mean? Are you anti-duvet?

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 26/12/2024 13:44

Take mine to Launderette every year, around £15, depending upon weight

Huh? What's wrong with a duvet? Grin

I’m either too young or too old for this thread. I’m hoping it’s young but I fear not.
It was from a Trev and Simon sketch on Saturday morning kids TV.

KnittedCardi · 26/12/2024 13:48

Feather and down king size costs about £35 here for a wash and dry. I love my duvet, and there is nothing wrong with it. It's 20 years old.

I think @ByHeartyCyanMentor and I might both have watched Live and Kicking 🤣

Toddlerteaplease · 26/12/2024 14:02

I took mine to one of those 24 hour laundrette things that are in car parks. It cost about £18. Bought a new duvet the second time.

Arran2024 · 26/12/2024 14:05

Not all duvets can be washed. The more expensive the duvet, the less likely you can wash it.

Do you swing your pants though?

Apollo365 · 26/12/2024 14:20

Buy new or take it to a Laundrette with those huge washers (I did the latter and it came up lovely)

I also swing my pants - doesn’t everyone?

ClassicalQueen · 26/12/2024 14:36

I wash mine in my washing machine at home, it's a large one though. It takes an age to dry!

Pedallleur · 26/12/2024 14:54

Have a super king that won't go in the washing machine. Was £20 to have cleaned/dried. It's man made filler not down which can clump if not dried properly

Caspianberg · 26/12/2024 14:58

We have a Baavet woolen duvet. Super king so pretty big. I wash it with wool wash in the bath about twice a year. Wash when warm and dry enough to dry outside in line ( about May and September). But I have washed it once in December when baby vomited and it was fine drying mostly outside then hung over a door inside to finish

CoastalCalm · 26/12/2024 15:04

I used to just replace mine every six weeks or so as often soiled due to problems with stoma now I have washable duvets and love them
