Chest, jaw and tooth pain - do we think it's definitely heart related?

Merry Christmas one and all!

I'm currently sat here with sharp chest pain that radiates out, accompanied by pain in lower jaw and bottom front teeth.

It's been going on for over half an hour and I would say is happening on a fairly regular basis now. Not daily but regularly.

Google tells me this is heart related, possibly symptoms of a heart attack or angina.

I did see my GP about it a few months ago, who asked if it happens when I'm exercising, which it doesn't.

The GP suggested it might be anxiety related as I do have a fairly stressful job, but I've been keeping an eye on it and it doesn't appear to be happening at times of stress. I'm certainly not stressed right now.

She seemed unconcerned and said that the blood thinners I've been taking since 2022 are a higher dosage than would be prescribed for someone who had had a heart attack, so the chances of me having heart issues was very slim.

For completeness, I'm F, 33, 12st (so do have a bit of weight to lose).

Obviously I'm going back to the GP once Christmas is done but are there any medical people who could provide some insight/reassurance?

Any difficulty opening your mouth? , I had most of your symptoms, in fact the walk in centre saw me immediately, it was temporomandibular jaw disorder . Worth looking up, . very painful.

I wouldn't say so. My lower jaw and bottom teeth hurt but I haven't noticed a difficulty in opening my mouth. The tooth pain is similar to the pain you sometimes get if you're running/walking with your mouth open on a cold day if that makes any sense at all.

You need an ecg to rule out things like atrial fibrillation.

Please please go to A&E. I had a heart attack, no other symptoms other than pain in my neck and jaw. I was so so lucky to make it. Please go now, your life could depend on it.

I get this and I have reflux issues. I recently had a 24hr ECG for other reasons, which was fine. As daft as it sounds, when you feel the pain coming on, drink a large glass of cold water. I got that tip from googling what it might be a long time ago, but it works every time.

I also genuinely thought I was having a heart attack the first few times it happened so I know how scary it is. There is a name for it but I'm sorry I can't remember it off the top of my head.

@CleanQueen123 i feel your pain, literally!
I had the same symptoms this morning and have had them once in a while since before Covid, very rarely. Comes and goes within 20 - 30 minutes when I am at rest.
I am going to get a doctor appointment when the surgery opens - would be interested to hear how you got on after Christmas episode?

I went back to the GP who said it was almost certainly reflux issues and I've been prescribed Lansoprazole while I wait for an endoscopy. The Lansoprazole is working and 🤞🏼 I've not had any attacks since.
