Does anyone else worry like this?

Whenever we get to an event like Christmas I find myself worrying about other people's children. Not anyone I know but just generally, children who are not looked after properly, those who are living with cruelty or abuse. I don't know why but it makes me so incredibly sad. I'm always affected by cases you hear on the news and it sometimes becomes all consuming 😞
Does anyone else find this, how do you worry less?

Absolutely. Christmas particularly highlights the massive gap between the have's and have not's, whether that's love, happiness, safety or a warm, comfortable home.

Yes definitely. I find tragedies, although of course are extremely upsetting at any other time of the year,it hits extra hard around Christmas 😞

Same, and I've got far worse since I became perimenopausal. I worry about children not getting any presents, parents who can't afford gifts getting upset and poverty in general. I've donated as much as I can but I get really tearful. I'm actually glad it isn't just me, I thought I was going mad yesterday with anxiety.

I'm glad it's not just me and I'm not being crazy. I'm far worse since becoming a parent 5 years ago, don't get me wrong I'm not a prefect parent, I raise my voice too much, but the worry about children being abused or mistreated fills me with such sadness. Even sitting watching my daughter open presents tomorrow I'll have in the back of my mind that another child may have nothing and will be shouted at or beaten by their parents.

Maybe channel it into volunteering or fundraising? Mentoring or befriending schemes for looked after children can be really valuable.

They're really good ideas, thank you

Yes. I work in childcare and it breaks my heart to think that some children won't have what my children do. Whether it be gifts, nice food or just a loving hug. 😔
