Chemo and leg cramps

I posted on the Cancer board, but trying here too

DH has just finished his 4th round of chemo, he's been having awful leg cramps. He's on temozolomide, 5 days every 4 weeks. We will obviously speak to his doctor after Xmas but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has any advice or suggestions. A microwave heat pad has helped. Thanks

DF had this- he was dehydrated as he wouldn't drink much. Try and get some electrolytes and more fluid, coconut water has them naturally, or you can get tablets etc.

Thank you, I did read about electrolytes, I will definitely try and get some

Both legs or one? Any swelling or redness in legs esp. calves? just be mindful of signs of DVT as people can be more prone to these during chemo. Remember, you usually are given a number for the cancer centre/ chemo ward to seek advice.

I would call the chemo line to get some advice too if you can. It's what they're there for.

Thank you, we have now spoken to the chemo nurse, he has a blood test arranged for Boxing Day, they think its his electrolytes but obviously can't really do anything tomorrow. I'm just hoping he manages some sleep tonight. Thanks for the help.

A little update, we spent 3 hours in Acute Oncology today, DH had a full check up and bloods taken. Everything is fine, bloods normal, so they were happy for him to go home and try and manage with painkillers and heat pad. Not how we expected to spend Boxing Day, but they were very kind and caring, and reassuring to know he's OK. We will speak to the doctor at his next appointment in case there's anything preventative we can do.
