My DD6 has one short-sighted eye (L: -0.75) and one long-sighted (R: 1.50).
Both eyes have deteriorated in the past year (in January, L: -0.25, R: 0; July L: -0.25, R: 1.50 and October L: -0.75, R: 1.50). All appointments have so far been at the opticians and she had the dilating drops in July.
She was only seen in July after the left was assessed as -0.25 in January due to family history of early high myopia, so assumed she would just follow the same trajectory as her older brother and myself. But then in addition to the short-sightedness, has also developed long-sightedness in the other eye.
She has been referred to the opthalmology department at the hospital and has an appointment in January - what can we expect from this?
Also, she was first offered a telephone appointment last week which I had put on the calendar, but on the day, just completely forgot (had so much else on my mind last week) and was driving so missed the call. Had a letter telling me off for missing the appointment, but it then said they would offer a face-to-face appointment instead. But really, what actually could have been done over the phone?! Is this standard practice in ophthalmology?!
