Does opening windows during rain, let moisture and humidity in?

It's raining this morning where I am. It's that heavy non stop drizzle.

A while after getting up I noticed the bathroom was soaking wet as if someone had a shower but noone had a shower.

I am wondering if leaving a window open lets moisture in.

I live in my parents house. I had my bedroom window closed last night and a dehumidifier running and my room and window is not bad. There was no condensation this morning on my window.

I think I read somewhere before that opening windows allows the humidity in.

I live in my parents house and my mother is obsessed with opening the windows and leaving them open all day long and even at night time too. To air the house. I think I read online before in Germany, ventilation in properties is encouraged and it's recommendation 10 minutes twice a day for opening windows. I think.

I would like to close the windows today around home because I think maybe opening them might be causing more harm than good.

Depends if the humidity is higher inside or outside. Ultimately the air will try and find an equilibrium, sort of osmosis I guess.

I have no idea what the indoor and outside humidity is.

My phone's weather app says it's 97% humidity. I suspect that is the out side weather.

I don't know what it is inside. I am guessing it's likely about 85-90 inside.

If you had no condensation inside it’s probably lower than that. I’ve got a widget in my bedroom which tells me the humidity inside, it’s often mid 70s first thing and then once the de humidifier has been on all day it’s down to mid 50s.

i do think it’s good to let some fresh air in every day but wouldn’t have the window open for more than ten mins if it’s that humid outside.

The outside air is cooler and has less capacity to hold moisture so has a higher relative humidity.

Opening the windows will cool the house, and increase the humidity levels.

A quick air change can be nice if it's become stuffy, but leaving the windows open for a prolonged period is going to make the house cold and damp.
