Do I put stuffing in a Turkey Crown

It's my first year on Turkey hosting duty. Do I need to? If so what type?

I usually cook stuffing separately, as the meat seems to cook better that way. And yes I would make stuffing. I tend to vary it but like something with nuts or chestnuts

There's nothing to stuff, so I just make it separately. I usually cover the crown with bacon and add the stuffing when I serve.

My DH makes up a sausage meat/sage and onion stuffing and packs it underneath the crown, because I love the turkey juices in the stuffing.

If you're going to do this, make the mixture slightly dryer than usual.

Thanks all! We've had a crown for the last couple of years but DM has always taken charge before now.

We'll be having sage & onion separately and the Turkey will be basted. I just wanted to to check it wasn't vital to have stuffing within it (if there even is an 'in'. Point taken about that. I'm sure DM also used to shove stuff under the skin, but that was probably goose fat.

You can do the stuffing in a baking tray once you’ve taken the turkey crown out to rest, it only takes about 20 minutes and that way you make the best use of oven space and time. I also put the pigs in blankets in then, and the red cabbage (just to re heat) too if there’s room.

I usually add the stuffing (sausage based) to the neck and sew up.
