My kids

All my kids are going to be together over Christmas. I feel quite excited 🥰 I'm actually on top of things i have made the bedrooms all nice and cosy.

We are having our Xmas day on Xmas eve afternoon because my youngest go to their dad's early on boxing day . So Xmas will feel longer with them if we start on Xmas eve

I'm cooking turkey tomorrow 😋 I haven't had a roast since last Christmas. So we will have roast dinner and eat crap. Older ones will drink.

Dd is 14 and she's asking if she can have one drink. I'm not sure about it though. It says its 3.4 vol alcohol. I have heard that adding lemonade does not change the alcohol volume? I'm thinking no say no to her .

Why not start Christmas day on the 23rd to really extend it?

Sounds lovely!

A 14 year old having one alcoholic drink won't be an issue at all. And it's better to let them start trying alcohol at home rather than make it an exciting forbidden thing.

We were allowed to drink a small glass of wine with a meal from 12 and at 14 sometimes had a couple of drinks if we had friends over, things like low volume alcohol/fruit drinks. We have all grown up to be very moderate drinkers!

Ahh that sounds like it's worked out well for you ☺️

If her drink is the same volume, so say 250ml, if it's half lemonade and half the alcoholic drink, she'll consume half as much alcohol as if she only had the alcoholic drink

Because my adult ds has funny working hours. Plus adult dd normally does her own mini Xmas on Christmas eve. But she's moved it to the 23rd because of me moving mine.

Thank you. I had forgotten about that. I remember as a teenager I was allowed to drink before 18. So it wasn't a thing... but my realitives were not until they were 18. And they really went for it and got over the top drunk and were chucking up and in an awful state.

Why are you giving your very underage child a drink. Yeah, they won’t die. But seriously, just parent. Say no. These are the last lines to cross. 14 is not 15 which isn’t even 16 which isn’t even bloody close to 18. Just say no and move on.

Just adding this incase you misread what I wrote.

Oh I must have imagined it was the same alcohol volume.

And yep all sorted well litterly. It feels good 😃
