If you start reading a book and you think it’s not great, do you complete it ?

Or do you forget it ?

It gets demoted to 'car book' so I just read when stuck waiting for DD somewhere.

She thinks I'm weird as I always have about 6 books on the go at once (car book, bag book, bed book, living room book, garden book, suitcase book for work trips😆). I read Dominion on and off for about 3 years before I actually finished it. The car book at the minute is Witches of Vargo, soon to be replaced by The Alchemist

I liked the Thursday Night Murder club series as it's such easy reading, I always find easy going books like that get me back into reading after a slump.

Thanks
I’m going to start following your lead then and forget about wasting time
feeling like have to finish for some bizarre reason that makes no sense !

thank you

If it’s a respected book I will read it, yes. If I’m struggling with a respected book I’ll assume the frailty is mine and carry on regardless, to be able to assess the book honestly at the end.

if it’s a novel I’ve chosen for entertainment I absolutely would dump it if I didn’t enjoy it.

That’s why I get free books and return them if I don’t get on with them.

I need to feel something about the characters and if I don’t, back they go.

Thursday Murder Club got thrown in the Oxfam pile after the first couple of chapters. Eleanor Oliphant set my teeth on edge. Happy not to continue.
