How on earth can something just vanish?

I had my earbuds just the other day. I definitely had them on Wednesday morning. I went into the kitchen listening to music. I made a cup of coffee and went to my room. I likely would have taken out my earbuds at some stage. Quite possibly in my room too.

Now I can't find them them.

I don't know if I put them into my pocket going to work.

I can't remember if I had them yesterday on Thursday in work. I definitely didn't use them at home. I don't know if I was thinking about putting them into my ears in work yesterday on Thursday but then I decided against it for sure.

All day today I checked in all of the obvious places in work. I checked in my bag and even did a deep clean in my bag. I checked a lot of sections in my room. I even checked my robes pockets. Not there. I checked the pockets of the clothes I had on Wednesday. Not there. I checked the laundry basket. Not there. They did not need charging any time recently.

I checked in all of the obvious places but I just can't find them.

How can they just vanish?

In recent months as well, I stopped wearing them while going out on walks and I play my phone on loudspeaker now instead.

I even checked my lunch bag. Not there.

They just vanished. I definitely had them early Wednesday afternoon or late in the morning. It's only since this morning I realised I don't have them.

Connected to a random charger in an unlikely room? Down the side of the sofa? Put down somewhere at work?

My good tweezers vanished years ago and it still puzzles me. I left them on the bedside table, went to my uni lectures, came back and they'd gone. No one had been in, no pets to move them, just vanished.

They are definitely not on a charger. Very doubtful it's down by a sofa cushion. Thanks for the suggestions. I had a look in all of the obvious places in my work today too. I wasn't able to see them.

I have no idea. I had them on Wednesday. I don't know if I had them yesterday. I think I was thinking about it yesterday but I don't think I did use them in the end.

Oh I sympathize with you OP, a favorite necklace of mine went missing, turned the house upside down looking.
Never found it but suspect our curious cat; think he dropped it down into a box of out-going donations.

Also lost some earplugs that I use for canceling DH snoring, they were picked up and run off with by the cat and I found them way under a cabinet.
Just a thought, if you have a cat!

This is why I have about 4 pairs. They disappear and reappear at random. Usually turning up in pockets or in the bedside table drawer (despite already having looked there)
