Painful feet burning sensation

I'm starting to think something is really wrong with me. For weeks now I've had patches of skin itchiness that come and go, always in different places. It doesn't really feel like an itch you can scratch as it feels too deep in the skin if that makes sense and is more of a burning sensation or sometimes a prickle.

No visible rash though I get the odd hive (never more than one at a time) and thought it might be triggered by the cold.

I have just got into bed and the itchy burning sensation has started in both my feet. It is so intense it feels really painful. It's radiating/tingling towards my ankles.

Should I be worried? Google isn't really bringing anything up.

Itchy feet can be a sign of liver problems- I had it last year. Ended up being gallstones. Ask for a blood test.
Good luck, hopefully it will turn out to be nothing.

Hot itchy feet at night can be a sign of a lot of things, including diabetes.

You should really get checked by your GP. No use living in pain, they will hopefully help you get it under control.

Thank you @IWanderedLonely . I coincidentally had a blood test last week (for unexplained hair loss) so I will see what it brings up.

I wonder if they are both connected.

Would be worth getting vitamin B12 and vitamin D tested if they didn't do that.

Hi did you work out what this was?

Burningskin4 · 22/01/2025 12:22

The blood test came back as low iron. It can cause circulation issues and cold feet so I think this may have been it, I have had horrible chilblains (itchy, swollen, blue toes) that come and go.

My teen son gets something similar to this, we haven’t worked out why though. He is autistic with sensory problems so it’s hard to gauge what he is experiencing. Did you find a cause?
His seems to be worse when standing still for a while eg in shower or standing at kitchen counter helping cook.

How would you describe the pain? Have you found anything that helps?
