Just FYI, if you accept an offer now it changes the price of your item permanently for everyone.

So if you've got something up for a tenner, and someone offers you £7 and you accept. Your item is now for sale for £7 to everyone.

Not keen on this.

No way! That’s ridiculous

Bambooozle · 22/12/2024 00:18

It's annoying that they keep changing things without notification.

But if you’ve accepted the £7 (or whatever) offer anyway then what difference does it make to you as a seller? You already agreed to sell it for £7 anyway.

LemooonSlice · 22/12/2024 00:32

But it sometimes encourages people to buy when they feel they've got a discount - I always price items to allow for a bit being knocked off the price for this reason. If it sends an offer to all who have favourited an item that's useful, not so much if it's changes the public price.

Because then people don't want to pay £7, they want to have a discount on that because it appears to them that it's full price!

I think it's just going to encourage people not to accept offers now.

Yes well that's the thing, any new viewers won't see it as £10 reduced to £7, they'll see it as £7 starting price so will want it for less.

And then starts the race to the bottom.

Because then everyone starts offering £6.

TheUsualChaos · 22/12/2024 00:49

That's good to know! I rarely accept offers anyway as the price I list at is what I want. If someone wants it any cheaper they can look for another one 🤷‍♀️

User2123 · 22/12/2024 01:09

That's good to know, I've often had something sell for full price after accepting a lower price then the buyer doesn't actually complete the purchase (why do they do that!)

Not sure if it's been mentioned before as I don't usually follow Vinted threads, but have they changed how offers work? I keep getting ridiculously low offers for things, like an item I have listed for £75 someone offered me £15!? I thought you could only offer a maximum of 40% under the asking price?

cantthinkofausername26 · 22/12/2024 02:23

What the chuff?

But you’ve already accepted an offer of £7 and therefore sold the item?

The person who offers a lower price doesn't always carry through with the sale.
